In reply to: Add Widgets Sidebar missingIn case it’s a browser issue – Be sure to try using firefox. I’ve had issues with widgets when I used explorer. They wouldn’t drag over to the sidebar. Things seem to freeze up in explorer. Firefox seems to work much better.

In reply to: Best way to setup WordPress sites for Clients?I have them go to a domain registrar and buy their domain. Next they go to a web host and sign up for an account. Then they can use the easy one click Fantastico wordpress setup that is available in the cpanel. There are other quick wordpress setups that are similar to my webhost. I’m using hostgator. Then either they or I copy the nameservers in the lower left of the cpanel and go to the domain registrar to their account to set nameservers and paste the two name servers into the box. After the installation at the webhost you receive an email with the username that you or they chose and with a password that can be reset later. Copy the password and click the link in the email to login to the site. Paste the link in the login box and put the username in it. You or your client will then be in the dashboard of wordpress. Here is a list of the steps with video tutorials, this way you don’t use the FTP, Hope this helps and good luck https://studiomediacam.com/dashboard-2/5-step-wordpress-site-setup/

In reply to: Create headerIn wordpress themes twenty eleven and twenty twelve you can click to choose not to use a header image and just use the header text. You can choose a color for the header text. This means there will be a text header and a menu like the People Magazine header. Here is a link to a video screencast tutorial for creating a custom header and custom logo for theme twenty twelve. Hope this helps. Good luck. https://studiomediacam.com/headers-custum-headers-create-custom-headers/custom-header-with-logo-and-text-wordpress-theme-twenty-twelve-tutorial/

In reply to: Can't insert media or hyperlinksYou might try contacting the theme creator to see if anyone else with that specific theme is having issues. It might be a theme compatibility issue. Good luck.

In reply to: Unable to Set Feature Image after updating to 3.5My featured image is working fine after the upgrade. Maybe there is a compatibility issue with your custom theme. I’m using the default Twenty Twelve with the static Homepage Template that has a featured image, no sidebar and two widgets at the bottom so it has a “website” look. Added the blog in the custom menu. Perhaps your custom theme Minimatica has a forum and you could check to see if anyone else is having that issue or you could contact the theme creator. Good luck. In case this is of help here is a recent video tutorial for adding the custom image https://studiomediacam.com/photography/add-custom-featured-image-on-homepage-theme-twenty-twelve/

In reply to: Add New PageI’m using the plugin called Ultimate Tiny MCE by Josh Lobe in order to have an expanded menu of options in the text box for pages or posts. I think that might be what you need. The basic menu editor that comes out of the box is pretty basic so you add the Tiny MCE to have more choices. It’s very customizable with tons of options you can choose to add to your text box menu. Hope this helps. Good luck.

In reply to: working with themes (TwentyEleven)I see above that you installed twenty twelve. If you use the twenty twelve theme instead you can fix the issue. Twenty twelve, the new featured theme, allows you to choose whether to use a text title or not. You can also upload a very narrow header instead of a huge wide one. Of course the title text is still there in settings for the search engines. I used my logo, which has the site name and created a narrow header that explains what the site’s about. good luck, Kristi

In reply to: Uploading and DownloadingHere are the steps. I have a pdf ebook in a widget on my website and here’s how I did it. Upload the pdf to the media library. Upload the graphic for the ebook to the media library. Use an Image Widget in the sidebar. It will have a place where there’s a link to click to either upload from your computer or form the media library. Click where you upload the image and add it from the media library or browse and get it from your computer. Below that area is a place with a link. Remove the jpg link and paste in the link that you have copied for the pdf ebook, which will be on the box in the media library where the ebook is listed when you click Show. I have a screencast video on how to do it. Here’s a page with a screencast about creating the pdf in Word and uploading it to the media library and another screencast about adding the ebook to widgets, pages or posts. Here is the link to the screencasts https://studiomediacam.com/category/ebooks-2/
good luck, Kristi
