To be sure, I also tried to create an event with image, and I don’t get error message: the event is well created.
And if I try to create again an event without image, I still get the error.

It is really the variable “image” which causes the error, either when creating or modifying an event.

I tested the plugin on localhost with WP 5.2.3, no problem. It would be nice to confirm the compatibility, currently it is indicated “tested up to 5.0.6” on the description of the extension. Some people don’t dare download in this case.

Sorry, I’m actually on localhost for tests, and it’s for a small family private site, so I can’t share any URL.

Anyway, I solved the problem with a specific template single-news.php.
This file calls the display of categories with this code:
<?php the_terms($post->ID, WPNW_CAT, 'Category : ') ; ?>

I hope it can help someone.

There’s still a problem with translation of the term “Category”, but I will open a new topic.

I partially solved the problem, using the plugin Custom Post Type date Archives: it allows to display the URL as /news/2018. This plugin is light, but I don’t need all the code of this extension.
Can you take a look at this plugin? Perhaps could you help by indicating which part of the code would be enough to put in the file functions of my theme, just to get date archives of news?

Never mind if there is no shortcode, I will simply put a link to the archive page.
