After posting I discovered that if I install and activate Media Library Categories plugin I get a bulk menu item to add the categories to all files so I have a work round.

Hi,
I have a similar problem on our church calendar that is now showing November 2018. I have deleted the cache and checked all plugins up-to-date, cleared the cookies on my machine and set and removed a start date for 1/1/2019 but the problem continues.
Any ideas?
