  • This problem occured for me this morning as well… except that I was tinkering around with my CSS. Now the homepage loads, but part of my content is missing, and when I click a post or page link, I get a totally empty page (firefox) or an error (IE). When I switch to another theme, everything seems to load fine.

This also happened to me a couple weeks ago while working on a different theme. I even went so far as to delete and completely reinstall that theme, and never did get my content to show up again with that theme selected. I finally abandoned it and started over.

This is apparently theme related, but I fail to see the problem anywhere. I went through and validated my core pages (header, index, footer, etc) to be sure I hadn’t somehow deleted a closing tag somewhere, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. This is incredibly frustrating. Anyone have ideas on a solution or experiencing a similar situation?

Gavjof, you rock. You just helped me solve a problem I’ve been stumped by forever. Previously my right nav was being bumped down beneath my content, and it was driving me nuts. Reading through this post was my last ditch attempt at finding a solution. Guess I should’ve started here rather than ending here. The page renders beautifully now that I’ve removed that one php statement. Many thanks!

This is in fact something I’ve been contemplating myself. I’m no programmer, so I don’t know if the line would be blurred or not… but I’ve been considering adding something like “Blog Setup” to my list of services, using WordPress specifically. This would include a from-scratch design for the blog, and setup of the administrative portions.

As for your friend, I don’t see any violations in what he’s doing. He’s not selling WordPress itself, he’s creating templates and setting up software. Does it matter if the software is freeware, open source or paid software? If he were setting up a server for someone, he would still charge accordingly for his services regardless of what the server software cost.
