    Hi,

Sorry for the response delay…life is hectic.

    > didn’t realise people were using that overview
    > to keep track of their list growth

As the developer, you decided to include that number in the dashboard, presumably because you thought it might be useful for users to find it there. I do. But since I now have to scroll to find it and then scroll again to see the renew results, it’s less convenient.

To restore the usefulness and convenience of this plugin, moving at least one list, and if possible two or three above the fold, would go a long way and satisfy the majority of your users. I encourage you to do that. I suspect anyone with more than three lists will get their info directly from MailChimp.

For me, I’ve found another solution.

    Thank you for your time.

Thanks for replying. It turns out that the toolbar Pinterest app I have on my computer supersedes the WordPress Pinterest apps and it’s something wonky with my system specifically that causes the Pin It button to locate above and outside the image. On another computer with the toolbar app, the button is located just where it should be, and on a computer without the toolbar app, the WordPress apps work as they should, so it seems to be my system I need to figure out. You’re off the hook. :^) Thanks.

There were only 6 views available on the version I downloaded; 2 were sliders (I did not want a slider), and of the other 4, three of them either truncated or distorted the image, and the last one truncated the labels so all the lower parts of the letters were missing(I’d add that one to a ticket for your developers too…if labels don’t display the full height/depth of the label text, the view is essentially useless). So NONE of your static views worked properly, beautifully designed or not.

As for no one else mentioning the submarine gray? Well, perhaps they used a slider and the gray didn’t matter to them. Or perhaps they just went on to another plugin without commenting. Most people do that when they find something that doesn’t work or doesn’t please them. Plugin authors hear from only a small percentage of dissatisfied folks.

The single star stands…you deserve at least one star because apparently the sliders work.

Thank you so much Devon! It’s working perfectly now and I love it. You are awesome.

I did not exaggerate. The sliders, as far as I could tell, looked fine, which is why I said, “if you want a slider, this may be for you.” But I don’t want a slider. I want a simple, non-sliding, photo+label+link gallery and I didn’t find a functional view among the remaining four non-sliding views.

My images are typical image proportions and were not “wrong proportions” for any of the other three gallery plugins I tried after yours (FYI…the two I decided against were programmed properly and did exactly what they were advertised to do, they just weren’t right for me. The 4th was perfect.). There’s no indication of image size requirements anywhere on your image upload page (am I supposed to guess until I get it right?), and if this plugin requires some weirdly specific size to work properly and that entails me having to resize ALL my images, then this is NOT the right plugin for me. I’ll find a plugin (and in fact I have) that doesn’t require all that extra work.

The ugly submarine grey occurs in at least two views where the viewing box is long and skinny. For a normally proportioned image, the sides of the box are empty (rather like a letterbox view on a wide screen TV) and the colour is solid submarine grey.

I will not be sending you links because with so much not working properly, and the misleading description of what this plugin could do (more on that below) I deactivated and de-installed the plugin immediately. Who would leave such a bungled gallery on their website for the public to see? I’ve already got another plugin I’m thrilled with; I’m not going to invest any more time in this one. After 30K+ installs of your plugin, and on a pretty much out-of-the-box WordPress site like mine, I shouldn’t be running into so many things that need fixing on a plugin with so few moving parts in the free version. Those are the parts that should DEFINITELY be bug free at this point. Perhaps more testing on your part is required.

Now, about your misleading description. Yes, you have little circles with “PRO” in the title list, but there is NO distinction in the description about what is and isn’t PRO. When you say “Powerful Design Customization” is PRO, the implication is that there is SOME design customization with the free version (most free plugin versions have *some*), just not the powerful ones. The expectation is that for those extra customization capabilities, or perhaps more granular control, you have to upgrade to PRO. People downloading the free version are NOT getting what you describe and from reading the description, they don’t know they’re not supposed to.

What a waste of time for me.

Thanks for your quick reply, Devon.

After posting this, I had my DH have a look at the problem (He doesn’t know WordPress well, but is an IT guru). He found the link you mentioned and made some progress, but still couldn’t get the email link to work properly. He ended up posting a comment to your blog (sorry to come at you from two directions! :^):

    ============
We’ve installed your plugin (changed the default permalinks to something else in the list), and we can send subscription emails out. However, when we try to confirm our subscription using the link, we get punted to the site’s 404 page. I can see the url is passed correctly from the link in the email to the webpage, but I can’t figure the rest out.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Mike

    Thanks so much, Kathryn. :^)

You must get tired of this kind of newbie problem, so I really appreciate your help.
