well, I’m learning things about WP every day, and, I thinked I learned something new today…. you see, I figured I’d switch to the default theme + see if that helped matters any… to my surprise the default theme had somehow been deleted from the remote site…
I didn’t know that WP wouldn’t function if the default theme wasn’t present in wp-content/themes???
So, for the heck of it, I uploaded the default theme, switched to it in admin.. .and sure enough index and site came up … i was thus able to switch over to my theme….
go figure!
