Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Redevelopment of siteOkay. I updated the wp-config.php file, updated the URL in the wp_options table of the database and changed the URLs in the wp_posts table and still can’t get the site to come up.
I get a 404 error when I go to wp-admin.php and the actual URL (which is suppose to be corporateprdev.com) is resolving to nic.sh which apparently is a domain name registrar.

In reply to: Redevelopment of siteI don’t need to move the site, I just need to duplicate it on a different server to test.
I can’t login to the admin because I can’t get the site to come up.
When I try to navigate to my duplicate site, the URL doesn’t resolve to the correct URL. For instance, the URL for my dev site should be mysite.com/dev. Instead, when I type in that URL, it resolves to somewhereelse.com/dev.
Is the site base URL located in some file? I’ve updated the wp-config.php file.

In reply to: Reviving old blogVersion 2.9.2. I thought about updating it to a newer version, but I was hoping to get it up and running before I did that.
I’d like to do a local version of it and test it out, but I don’t have a local server, just my personal web space and the client’s.

In reply to: Reviving old blogAll of the content is there (all 500mb worth) and I created a new user with full permissions. Still no access. I’m going to move it to another server and see if that works.
The only out of the ordinary thing I can think of is that several years ago, this client had taken the site down because of some form they had on their site and bots constantly hit it, sending floods of emails. I’m not sure what the site admin did at the time to fix it, aside from just take the WP folder down. I don’t know if the server admin did anything to it or not. I can’t really get any answers on what happened since I’m dealing with non-technical people.

In reply to: Reviving old blogI renamed the .htaccess to old.htaccess and cleared my browser cache and I still get the error.

In reply to: Reviving old blogScratch that. I just took out the pretty URL code from the .htaccess and it didn’t work. Still the same issue.
Also, I read that I should replace everything aside from my wp-content folder using the same version I have now. I tried that as well with the same results.

In reply to: Reviving old blogWould it have anything to do with the pretty URLs? The .htaccess file does have the rewrite rule in there.

In reply to: Reviving old blogI did reinstall from a backup, but to the same URL/directory it was in before.
