In reply to: RSS feed date-time validation problemThanks Santeven I did try some of those variations. kmessinger I have posted dozens of posts. I tried posting a new post in that category but that didn’t work. Not sure what’s going on. I tried adding posts in other categories too but none of my categories work as rss. I migrated the site today from a sub-directory. Would that have any bearing on it?

In reply to: Tag Cloud font size doesn't changeWell I’ve deleted it from style.css in my Divi theme and it has done the trick. Thank you!

In reply to: Tag Cloud font size doesn't changeThank you – that must be it. Is there a way to add a line in my Child Theme CSS which would override it, rather than deleting it. Otherwise the issue will reappear each time my theme gets updated.
I get this too.

In reply to: Export/save entries and comments somehow?Well it all seems to validate now but the sidebar is still displaced. Having spent the best part of a week on this, I’m pretty sure I will leave WordPress. Despite its appeal as a customisable tool I feel it is for more advanced coders – I just want to blog! Thanks for your help.

In reply to: Export/save entries and comments somehow? That’s strange – it just tells me that the page has tentatively passed validation. Is there another way of checking in more detail? And does that mean you can’t use the £ sign?
Thanks.

In reply to: Export/save entries and comments somehow? Thanks, Moshu, I have managed to eradicate all the apparent non-utf-8 errors. But now the sidebar has fallen down again. I tried validating the CSS but got this message which for the life of me I cannot find anything wrong on that line:
Please, validate your XML document first!
Line 131
Column 560
Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Export/save entries and comments somehow?Ryan, you’re right. TypePad sucks in comparison. I’ve ordered a book on WordPress from Amazon. It hasn’t defeated me. Not yet. I’d love to know if anybody else finds it this difficult to get started. And Moshu, if you get a chance I would like to know how you got that detailed info. Thanks.

In reply to: Export/save entries and comments somehow? Thanks Ryan – your advice looks useful, although as ever with WordPress there is a lot to read. And Moshu – I have tried to validate my site several times but never managed to come up with the detailed info that you have. Not sure how you did that – how did you? When I check, it just says it won’t validate… Maybe this is all way too deep and I should go back to …TypePad. I’d have to pay but at least I’ll get to sleep at night. LOL

In reply to: Sidebar at bottom of pageThanks for your help, Yosemite. After reading the useful page and installing the Firefox toolbar, I am still none the wiser as to how to find the offending piece of code – I’ve no idea where to look. But I fixed it by deleting all the posts and re-importing them from my previous blog. Not something I would want to do every time I get a glitch, but it fixed it this time.

Only thing is, anyone know why the little (java?) buttons to resize the font etc don’t work in Jakarta template?

In reply to: Sidebar at bottom of pageI am such a newbie to WordPress that I don’t even know where or how I should find line 191. Is it in one of the files I can see in ‘Theme Editor’? Or am I missing something I shouldn’t?
Thanks.

In reply to: Sidebar Pushed to the Bottom! Help!Lucky Dog – your site works fine in Firefox but not IE. If anyone can help, I have the same problems as Lucky Dog and have tried the same things, but the problem is in both IE and Firefox.

In reply to: Sidebar at bottom of pageThe result I get is as follows:
Sorry, I am unable to validate this document because on line 191 it contained one or more bytes that I cannot interpret as utf-8 (in other words, the bytes found are not valid values in the specified Character Encoding). Please check both the content of the file and the character encoding indication.
I am really not sure where to check – I have looked in Theme Editor but know sure how to progress from there. Could it mean something as simple as the fact that I have used an ‘e’ with a French accent in one of the posts?
