This is what I’m also looking for – i’d want to add my own events, preferably with an option where the description of the event could include a URL to a fuller article.

Lots of ‘on this day’ type of widgets seem to exist, but a customisable one for WordPress (i’ve found one for Joomla) just doesn’t seem to exist.

I had this and ended up switching off GigPress.

Having switched off loads of plug-ins to get things like the site to reappear, then to get posts usable, and now to get pages working again, i’m left with just Akismet, Google Analytics and a Facebook Fanbox. I’ve had to switch off all the Twitter and Sociable plug-ins just to make the site usable again.

I guess the plug-ins will eventually get a revamp which will make them stable for use again with WP 3.0.

I figured it out: when an upgrade fails, a .maintenance file appears in the main directory – delete it and the message goes away.

ha, yes, that gets rid of it ??

I’ve got it too, having upgraded to WP 3.0. I had a spot of plug-ins giving me Error 500s and having sorted all those out, I’ve got a dashboard that tells me that I’m running WordPress 3.0, yet just above it, under the top nav bar, it reads “An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.”

I don’t feel like clicking that link just yet as i don’t want to go through all the plug-in drama again : /
