In reply to: [Facebook Chat Plugin - Live Chat Plugin for WordPress] very annoyingI’m sorry to hear that the plugin annoyed you, In what way did you find it annoying?
Hi, Thanks for reviewing. There was previously a bug with the prominence setting, and to help diagnose, and possibly fix, the issue can you try going to the settings menu and clicking “Edit Chat Plugin” and change the “prominence” to “icon” and click publish, even if it is already set to icon.
If this doesn’t work, any other details you can provide would be very helpful in identifying a potential bug, such as wether this happens on mobile views or on desktop views and if the setting shows “icon” or something else when you return to it after attempting to change it.
ThanksSorry for the inconvenience. The root of the bug was identified last night and a fix was released that should address the issue with the setup page not publishing back to WordPress.
If you had an issue with the plugin not showing up, try the following:
– return to the chat plugin settings page.
– click the “edit chat plugin” or the “setup chat plugin” button.
– click “publish” on the popup.
– reload your page.
If that doesn’t resolve your issues, please let us know.
Thank you for your patience.Hi, Thank you for the feedback on this!
This was due to a bug that has recently been fixed. If this continues to happen please let us know, and sorry for the inconvenience.unfortunately the plugin cannot load on ip addresses, a domain name is needed.
Hi, thanks for the feedback on this issue. This was a bug in the plugin that has now been resolved, sorry for the inconvenience.
This wasn’t immediately reproducible for me, so I will need to look into reproducing this with the team and get back to you. Thank you for the effort and details, and sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you for bringing this up! This was a bug and should be resolved now. If you are still having the issue let us know.
If you haven’t gone to the settings/or getting started and clicked “edit chat plugin” button, that step is necessary for the chat bubble to show up.
Here are some steps from a relevant troubleshooting process from the help page.
If you had this issue but didn’t find this page in your searches, please let us know. (from: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/789975831794468 )– Check that you’re running the latest version of the plugin, and the plugin status shows as Activated. You can view the status in the Plugin tab in your WordPress homepage.
– If the Facebook Page the plugin is associated with has age or location restrictions, the plugin will not load for users who fall outside of the allowed age range or location. Guest users who are not logged into Facebook will not see the plugin at all.
– If your WordPress installation is deployed on multiple websites with different domains, you will need to set up the Chat Plugin from the Admin section for each instance of your site, so each domain has access.
Check that you’ve disabled any ad blockers running in your browser.
– If you have other WordPress plugins active in your installation, try deactivating them all temporarily and reactivating the plugins one by one.
To inspect more closely whether the code has been correctly deployed into the site’s source markup, you can view the source and search for a div tag with the class attribute fb-customerchat.
– If the code is present, but the plugin still does not appear, there may be CSS style rules causing the plugin not to render properly. Read the Chat Plugin shows differently than preview section below to troubleshoot. Thanks
Thank you for the feedback.
When you say “chat icon drops” are you unhappy with the positioning choices or is there something happening that seems to be a bug?
If you haven’t already tried you can raise and lower the icon and change which side it appears by going to setting->and clicking “Edit Chat Plugin” but there is currently no way to adjust the left and right positioning by increments. The account is needed to have conversations, as messages are directed to the inbox of the account connected. There’s no way around this currently, but thank you for mentioning the prototyping use case; this sort of feedback is useful for creating new features.
Speaking of the close button not working, it may be that this issue is resolved now as there was a fix released yesterday for a bug that may have been what you were encountering. If not, a bug repot is always appreciated.
ThanksHi Henry, can you provide a link to your site so we can replicate the behavior? Also, what locale have you chosen for the plugin?
This is the support forum for the stand alone wordpress facebook chat plugin. The facebook chat plugin for woocommerce is a different product. If that is the product you are having trouble with you can reach out for support on the woocommerce site.
If not, the fb-root element doesn’t appear on the page you linked. Can you confirm that in the process of setting up your multisite that you did not deactivate the plugin, that you still have it installed, and that you’ve completed the setup in the settings for the plugin?

Unfortunately there’s currently no way to change the icon size. If you haven’t already tried, it might help to change the bottom spacing and the left/right justification of the icon in the settings->”Edit Chat Plugin” Button and under the “Customize your Chat Plugin” category.
