I too have the same issue.

I believe it is supposed to be affected by the “Announcement Banner:” field in the settings, but no matter what I change this to, it doesn’t work!

I too would like to get rid of the word “Announcements:” in the title.

As a workaround, I’ve just gone back to the old version.

The search.php template is basically the twentyeleven theme one, but with an extra div added for the header, so I doubt it’s that.

I do have quite a few widgets and plugins running, so possibly a conflict there?
