In reply to: [WooCommerce Shipping] Shipping options not adequateThis review is accurate and calls attention to a poor implementation and deceptive “upgrades” that woo is playing.
The plugin author’s response directing the user to an additional paid-subscription plugin that will be required to get the same functionality tells you the game that they are playing.
If you install this plugin, you will be forced to move from one free plugin that works to having to pay regularly for the same features, plus required to have two plugins installed instead of one. It’s a big downgrade for sure.
This review is absolutely correct. It will break your shop and force you to pay.
“does not bring value” is a vast understatement.

In reply to: [Calculated Fields Form] form field values disappearing after page loadThank you kindly!
I’m going to try this – nothing else works for me either. And that’s on a server with plenty of wordpress sites running flawlessly until the update.
WordPress 4.9.x is simply broken.

In reply to: Unable to edit themes after 4.9 or 4.9.1I found a site that had not been updated to 4.9.1 yet. Same server setup as my other sites.
Test 1: Successfully edit a php file in the active theme.
Upgrade to 4.9.1
Test 2: Attempted to edit a theme’s php file. After a good long wait while the status icon spun in circles: Error: Something went wrong. Your change may not have been saved. Please try again. There is also a chance that you may need to manually fix and upload the file over FTP.
Added this line to config: define( ‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false );
Test 3: Attempt to edit active theme php file:
Same error after a long wait: Something went wrong. Your change may not have been saved. Please try again. There is also a chance that you may need to manually fix and upload the file over FTP.- This reply was modified 6 years, 11 months ago by robotor.

In reply to: Loopback requests taking too long with no plugins installed at allI’m getting this same error when trying to do a test edit in WordPress twenty-seventeen

In reply to: Unable to edit themes after 4.9 or 4.9.1Health check finds no issue with loopback request, yet I’m still getting this error:
Unable to communicate back with site to check for fatal errors, so the PHP change was reverted. You will need to upload your PHP file change by some other means, such as by using SFTP.

In reply to: Unable to edit themes after 4.9 or 4.9.1I ran health check, it tells me I should be running php 7, I’m using 5. That’s the only ‘problem’ I see.
Is there a way to disable all of the extra WP theme editing “features”?

In reply to: Unable to edit themes after 4.9 or 4.9.1Another error I get is:
Unable to communicate back with site to check for fatal errors, so the PHP change was reverted. You will need to upload your PHP file change by some other means, such as by using SFTP.
note that this is with all plugins disabled and the twenty seventeen theme activated.

In reply to: [WP Go Maps (formerly WP Google Maps)] error (can’t start using the map)Dashboard > Maps > Map Settings > Use Google Maps API: 3.exp
Google Project and API created today.I was still getting the error. So I poked around and saw that in the Google API manager, you have to “enable” the API on another page. It was not enabled even though they allowed me to create one! It says “Some APIs are enabled automatically” but it doesn’t look like the javascript one is.
So, I got it working!

In reply to: [WP Go Maps (formerly WP Google Maps)] error (can’t start using the map)I just created the “project” and received the API key today. I’d think it would not be out of date?
