  • For anyone looking to replace or supplement the dashboard with their own blog info, definitely check out Angsuman’s version of the Dashboard. It is awesome!! I highly recommend it! [see post above]

Maybe you put a link to that post on a page that lists post titles… like a TOC or “about” or on a sidebar or something? So it captured all those titles…?

As an update, all the Dashboards [WP News and the blog links below] are down on all 3 of my blogs today. I am running 1.5.1.2 on all of them. They were exhibiting varying degrees of “broken” since upgrading – now they are all the same – kaput!

Sounds like it must be something external since we all seem to be experiencing similar problems.

No changes to my servers have been made. In addition, they are all on the same server, but each exhibits varying degrees of “broken.”

The problems started with 1.5.1. Upgrading to 1.5.1.2 completely wiped out the feed on one of my blogs, and left the other still as broken. ??

All my blogs are on the same server. The Dashboard always worked with 1.5. It was only after upgrading that the dashboards started exhbiting the strange behaviors.

I could have sworn I saw a reply to a post here where someone said they made a change to the CSS of the page that displays the dashboard, and that made the dashboard show up. Alas, I can not find that post!

I honestly don’t think it’s a transmission problem – with my blogs at least – I think it’s a display problem. I could see it being a transmission problem if some of the lines dropped out or something, but sometimes the text is “invisible” until I highlight it [which indicates to me that it’s received, but not displaying correctly], and sometimes the display will just have a “square” of text – literally, a square shaped chunk of text. To me, those connote display problems. But I have no idea how to fix it, and no confirmation that I’m anywhere near correct… so I gave up.

    how beautiful! thanks for sharing!

Oh, I’m also not a bluehost customer. I also have 3 blogs, and the dashboard worked in various degrees. ??

Good luck trying to get the Dashboard to work. I’ve been having problems with it for weeks. I now use Angsuman’s modified dashboard and it’s much, much better. Just add the WP Dev Blog to bloglines or something. Good luck with it though – it doesn’t seem to be much of a priority around here…

Angsuman – thank you so much for sharing your stripped down version of the Admin page. I’m using your version now. [At first I was worried that I would be missing out on important WP news, but seeing as how the dashboard problems of everyone here haven’t seemed to garner much interest from the WP powers-that-be, I’m guessing the news feed isn’t all that important.] Thanks again for sharing!!

I recently updated to 1.5.1.2 and am still having the following, consistent problems.

Blog 1: On the admin screen, the only areas visible in the dashboard area is a box entitled “Latest Activity.” There is a long box containing the word “Dashboard” but it is a box only around the word “dashboard.” There is no space for further entries [as there usually is on the admin screen]. There seems to be no feed/information at all. Note: this screen worked normally with 1.5.1.1.

Blog 2: Everything is normal on the admin screen except for the Dashboard. The box is large, as if it contains words, but the box is empty, or sometimes it will display a bit of text, and sometimes the text will show up when highlighting the white area. Same problem as experiencing with 1.5.1.1.

Blog 3: Normal display on the admin screen.

Again, I am using IE. Is anyone else having this problem? Are there any suggestions on how to fix this? Please! ** crossing fingers **

Can you contact your host and ask them to make a copy for you? Maybe they would have sufficient access to it?

I had the same problem, but with the “change password” emails – they would take a looooong time to arrive. I think it was just traffic or a temporary service issue, because after that, they started coming at lightning speed again. Is the delay something new, or has it always been like that? That info might help to pinpoint the problem.

Perhaps try looking at your CSS file and determine what img tags are being used…?
