Found the fix. I’m sharing this info just in case anyone else runs into this issue. My Customizer and my media gallery stopped working when using the OceanWP child theme. They appeared broken and were just showing blank screens. WordPress and OceanWP were all up to date. The problem was resolved when I updated a plugin called Post Duplicator.

Thank you, Elementor! I just updated to the latest version (2.7.3) and the captions are back to normal. I guess I wasn’t crazy after all!!

No, the Picasa galleries did work after I updated to Gutenberg and followed your transition steps.

I thought it would be better to rebuild them so the underlying code would be updated in case of potential future conflicts. If I had known Picasa was due to be deprecated so soon (the next week), I would have done the transition to Google Photos then, but I liked Picasa because it handles video. At least I know how to fix the issue.

You were right. Twelve hours later, the Photonics Picasa albums are now displaying correctly. Thanks for the advice! If it happens again I’ll know what to expect.
