  • I get it too even on first time pposts – and its slowing publishing down to a crawl. The plugin is adding at least 10 seconds to the publish process – I assume because its attempting to force a Facebook cache refresh and waits until its timed out before returning that error and returning you to the edit post screen.

Same here, could this be fixed in any way?

Thanks in advance, and for the plugin!

    Happy New Year,

    Regards.

    Hello,

    same problem here…

Error: Facebook Open Graph Tags cache NOT updated/purged.
Facebook returned: There was an error in fetching the object at URL ‘https://www…..’, or one of the the URLs specified via a redirect or the ‘og:url’ property including one of https://….. .

    Kind regards,

    Klaus

I just commented out the error message ….

The developers seem to have gone very quiet.

This means that for some reason your server cannot communicate with Facebook to update the cache.

As the message states, you can/should disable this on the settings page unticking “Try to update Facebook Open Graph Tags cache when saving the post”

I looked into the error – actually if you try to purge a FB cache for something that doesn’t exist (which is what will happen the first time you post something) then FB quite rightly tells you that it doesn’t exist… and that error isn’t being handled properly.

I fixed this error by unticking the “Include Twitter Card URL tag” box and the error went away. Turns out that another plugin was already adding the og:url so it was on my page twice.

This should not fix this problem. There’s no relation whatsoever.

    We’ll investigate further.

I’m still getting this error as well.

The error is “normal” ehrn creating a new post, because Facebook still does not know about this post URL. We’re trying to fix this on a upcoming release.

If the error shows up when editing a post, then your server is not able to GET remote URLs and “Try to update Facebook Open Graph Tags cache when saving the post” should be disabled on our plugin’s options.

Okay thank you. It only shows on new posts.

Let us know when fixed. Many thanks ??
