In reply to: [Tag Groups is the Advanced Way to Display Your Taxonomy Terms] Tag synonymsIf you are familiar with redirects in Wikipedia, where both redirects and articles can be categorized, and are listed alphabetically within the category, with redirects appearing in italics – I wish I could accomplish something very similar with tags and “tag redirects” within tag groups.

In reply to: [Tag Groups is the Advanced Way to Display Your Taxonomy Terms] Tag synonymsSo, it adds tags automatically when it discovers a synonym anywhere in the post content? That’s a neat feature, of course, but it’s the opposite of what I’m looking for.
Maybe best way to describe it would be “tag redirects”: “Golden Delicious” would redirect to “Apple”, without explicitly tagging these posts with #Apple. Creating a new tag “Apple varieties” later and updating the definition of “Golden Delicious” to redirect there instead would automatically have this effect on all posts where the tag was used.
I would like to be able to define tags as equivalent or interchangeable in such a way that when I use any one tag from among the list of interchangeable tags, only that one tag would appear in the post, yet the post would be included in the post list for all equivalent tags, in post count for each of these tags, and so on.
If this was implemented within Tag Groups, I would also like to see a way to distinguish “redirected” tags from regular tags, for example, by showing them in italics within a tag list.

In reply to: [Tag Groups is the Advanced Way to Display Your Taxonomy Terms] Tag synonymsDoes TaxoPress work in conjunction with Tag Groups?
What are synonyms in your implementation, are they stored as tags? Can they belong to different tag groups?
In the example from your link (if I understand it correctly), if “Golden Delicious” tag is found in the post, TaxoPress will add the tag “Apple” to it, but what happens when I remove the synonym definition? Will the post remain tagged with “Golden Delicious”, “Apple”, or both?
Basically I am looking for an equivalent of tag_groups_tag_list that would work for categories. I don’t see how to accomplish it. If it is currently not possible, please consider it a feature request.
