I’d noticed this too and had assumed it was my theme but hadn’t got round to investigating further yet. Great to know it’s a plugin level issue and fix. Thanks.

In reply to: [SportsPress - Sports Club & League Manager] Change Game Order To AscendingAh could be. Since web devs initially set up my site I didn’t see it in default SportsPress form and no sign of the Rookie theme on my build.
Actually it was a default WP theme I tried to prove that SportsPress wasn’t the cause of the wrong ordering.

In reply to: [SportsPress - Sports Club & League Manager] Change Game Order To AscendingHave you tried it with default SportsPress theme?
It orders correctly for me on their theme so my issue definitely lies with my current install of the Champion theme.
Also for me, this issue only occurs on future events, it orders correctly as per the calendar setting on past events.

In reply to: [SportsPress - Sports Club & League Manager] Change Game Order To AscendingAre you using the Champions theme? (or a child theme based on it)
I have the same problem with a child theme based on Champion and the advice is to update that theme and check with the theme developer if still an issue. I’ve not had a chance to try it yet though. Perhaps this weekend.
Perfect it’s now working for me. Thanks ??
Still happening for me too. Google API key issue according to this thread https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/webmasters/yqQYZJzuGqA.
I tried deactivating and reactivating SportsPress as also suggested in that thread but that hasn’t resolved it.

Nice one kev147 that worked for me also. Seems it is a plugin level issue then if we both are suddenly seeing the problem.
Please ignore my issue 2 I’ve realised direct slug navigation of a venue won’t return the venue page unless some events have been held at that venue.
Just the issue 1 to resolve ??
No problem thanks. My theme developers are no more as they have shut down their business but it’s closely based on Champion so I should be ok working things out from there before contacting the Champion devs.
Thanks again
I did another test. In theme customisation changed Event List Layout from Theme Default to Sportspress Customizable. This also correctly sorts future calendar by ASC. But that layout won’t work for me so I need to get my Theme Default working.
Do you know if below are the correct files to target?
(I can see $order is set to ‘default’ then pulled in from the calendar setting, though I can’t see it used in a list sort)If so I will do comparisons between mychildtheme and champion for the differences (which are minor I think), then if necessary champion and sportpress templates.
/wp-content/themes/mychildtheme/sportspress
event-list-theme.php/wp-content/themes/champion/sportspress
event-list-theme.php
event-list.php/wp-content/plugins/sportspress/templates
event-list.phpsingle-list.php isn’t present anywhere in my installation. Neiter child nor champion theme folders.
I don’t have shell access on my hosting so have used one of these crude php search scripts to search for ‘ DESC ‘. A lot of noise in the search output but doesn’t seem to be any culprits. Really though in my child theme there aren’t many files so I have gone through those individually. Could be the web devs have edited a file within the Champion parent theme.
It’s a strange one, probably will end up being something really simple/obvious but just difficult to detect.
No but that’s because I told the web devs I didn’t want third party logins such as fbook etc. Disqus is maybe the one third party I wouldn’t mind using though. Might give it a shot in the future.
Thanks
Thanks Savvas
I had seen this solution before but thought the wp-comments-post.php core file had changed since that solution was posted so didn’t think it would work. However despite that doubt I have gone for it this time and it does of course work ?? .
One minor difference is it doesn’t allow nested/reply to comments, whereas published posts do (presumably because the WP Discussion settings only control published posts). However it’s still great that we have a workaround. Thanks for sharing ?? .
Sorry now the site is live I’ve been wary of switching themes due to some permissions error when I revert back that I’ve not got to the bottom of yet. But what the heck I went for it (and I have reverted back ok despite the error ?? ). It does indeed sort correctly as ascending on Twenty Sixteen so I’ll have another look through my custom theme code.
If you have any pointers as to what typically causes this in custom themes please let me know.
Many thanks for your quick response.
