In reply to: Importing wordpress from wordpressoh, govpatel, thanks! we posted simulaneously.
Yes, that’s how I’ll have to recreate my widgets, but I would still need the content from the widgets such as text/html. But I got it now from my old install.
got the plugins, now I’ll go activate them. Thanks!

In reply to: Importing wordpress from wordpressHmmm, but I did do a database backup as well. The export/import feature just seemed easy. (and the documentation didn’t say that I would lose anything)
So is it too late to use the the database backup? And would that involve going into the sql database? (I’m not very good at that!)
I just remembered I still have my blog running on the old host in the blog folder, so at least I can go back and forth and look at it to recreate all my customization.
Guess I’m all set then, thanks for your help Samuel!

In reply to: Importing wordpress from wordpressYes, thank you, the first/main problem is fixed. I needed to both delete the home.html and ADD my param.xml file, now I can see my blog.
BUT I really thought I would get my whole theme back with all the customizations and widget items back with the export or backup or something. I have a clone of the whole FTP folder on my desktop, can I get it back from there?
I moved over the theme folder, but that’s still generic, no widgets.
Thanks again!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Importing wordpress from wordpressis there a way to get my theme and plugins back with a backup file?
And I think you’re right about the other thing, there’s a home.html I’m going to go try to delete.
Thanks for your quick response!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Permalinks on a redirected URLCan anyone help me with this? Thanks!
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Permalinks on a redirected URLThank you for that link, it is somewhat helpful, but makes me think that I can’t do what I want. It all assumes that you have the same thing for localhost and I want to use my URL in the permalink, not the localhost.
I wonder if there is some kind of tricky work around.

In reply to: Image Library ProblemsOne last time, I want to thank you all for all your help.
In the end I decided to switch hosts and am currently working on installing WordPress on the new host and importing my blog. But that’s a whole different story and hopefully it will be a smooth one.
I’m glad this forum is here and so helpful. Thanks again! – Emma

In reply to: Image Library ProblemsI can see the owner of each file and directory with get info, but I don’t know what to do with that information. I’ve said this before, the permissions are set to 775 and there are strings of numbers for the owner and group. But I don’t know what to do with those numbers or how to find out what they should be.
I don’t know what I should do at this point. Should I reinstall WordPress again? Get a new host? Any suggestions?

In reply to: Image Library ProblemsWell, I don’t know. I guess I could look into it. Then I’ll have to move it again, ugh!

In reply to: Image Library ProblemsHi again my trusty helpers, I have a new piece of information for this puzzle…I can’t post anything!! I tried to write a quick “technical difficulties, please stay tuned” message without and images and I can’t post at all. I get the edit screen, but then if I click save draft or publish, it takes me back to the post list and my draft is just gone. It doesn’t publish or save what I just wrote.
Would it be ok if I post this question anew in the troubleshooting forum? Does that bring any new ideas to light for you?
THANKS!!Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Image Library ProblemsHenkholland, I tried a PC today and no luck there either. I’m at my wits too! It’s broken!!

In reply to: Image Library ProblemsOh, I did that already. I got the phpinfo screen, but couldn’t find the user/group or anything that looked right.

In reply to: Image Library ProblemsHi apljdi, I’m glad you’re still with me, but I don’t know the answer to your question. It should be me as I am the one who uploaded it. But I uploaded it via an FTP client and I’m logging into WordPress via the admin there, so they’re not really the same thing. Do you know how I would find that out or fix it?? (Yahoo couldn’t help!)

In reply to: Image Library ProblemsNope, it’s not that. I have tried to upload very small images. 30KB doesn’t even work. I did add your memory limit increase fix, too.
Thanks for the irfanview suggestion, but I just checked it out and it’s not available for Macs. Anyway, I have photoshop and can optimize my images there. I’m only sometimes lazy and upload them straight out of iPhoto.
