In reply to: Alternative to Nextgen for slideshows?Hey, I just wanted to report back. I’ve been using portfolio slide show for 10 months, and it’s really super. I’m now using it throughout my website in various ways, and it’s giving me a very nice look and capability. It works great with the latest WP3.5. Really recommend it.

In reply to: Posts don't show without purge page cacheInstructions in this link worked, but I’m still puzzled since I didn’t need to add this code in previous versions of WordPress.

In reply to: Blog posts not showing in blog, okay as single postsWell, problem solved, I think…
It looks like the W3 Total Cache plugin’s Page cache was holding on to an old version of
https://imagesbyeduardo.com/main/blog/
Once I purged the cache for that page, all is working normally. I am not seeing how I can prevent a stale cache from showing an old version of my blog’s main page… up to and including disabling and removal of the plugin.

In reply to: Redirects not workingAlright, got it to work now… two things:
1) Deleted all the other “about” test pages I had created from the trash (Empty trash)
2) Emptied the cache in my browser.
Tested on 3 PCs, and voila, all is well.
This might be the same problem I’m having. Also using Yoast Redirection

In reply to: Malicious code detectionOkay… I just checked both my installed /default/index.php and the one in the WP 3.3.1 clean install. They both read:
<?php
// Silence is golden.
?>If so, why would this be flagged by sucuri.net as out of date? I think it’s just a false positive. Joy.

In reply to: Malicious code detectionOh, I just did another scan at https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/. It says WordPress is outdated… but I just re-installed 3.3.1. What gives?
EDIT: I looked deeper. It’s flagging the default and my current index.php theme files.

In reply to: Alternative to Nextgen for slideshows?Thanks again for the help, Dalton. For those that are willing to do a litle CSS/HTML coding, there’s an alternative way that also allows you to do the fixed height combined with a custom background color for your slide show.
Here’s the CSS:
div.slide_show1 { background-color: #a8a9ad; padding: 10px; padding-bottom:10px; width: 512px; height: 512px; vertical-align: middle; text-align: center; }And here’s the HTML call-out with shortcode:
<center><div class=”slide_show1″>[portfolio_slideshow size=medium navpos=disabled pagerpos=disabled]</div></center>You can see a sample use of it at:
https://imagesbyeduardo.com/main/weddingBTW, I recommend that you size your images exactly in the dimensions that you are going to be displaying them. For example, I had 512 pixel wide images displaying inside a 500 wide slide show, and the resizing killed the image sharpness. By resizing my images for a 500 pixel wide display, I gain full control of the sharpness that the slide show displays. Most people know this, but I thought I’d just throw it out there.

In reply to: Contact e-mail not workingDid you create the “new contact form”? Installing the plugin alone won’t fix the situation. Read again what Josh said, and take your time in following all the steps. I recommend you save your current page to another name (Contact-old, for instance), then make it non-Public. Next create a new Contact page and insert the short code into it. Of course, again, that requires setting up the form plugin, as described here.

In reply to: Uncluttering/simplifying page display – remove blog listingsThanks… had a look at that, and it isn’t immediately clear at all how to accomplish what I indicated in the OP.

In reply to: Alternative to Nextgen for slideshows?Hey, Dalton, thanks for chiming in. It finally dawned on me last night that you’re Portfolio Slideshow’s author. Good job, man, and thanks for putting it out there.
I incorporated your suggested shortcode here and here. Looking much better, though I still need to go back and set a fixed height with another shortcode.
I have another question for you: is there a way to re-sort/re-order images after uploading? It looks like I’m pretty much restricted by the Media options there?

In reply to: Alternative to Nextgen for slideshows?I think I found those options afterall:
[portfolio_slideshow navpos=disabled]
>> Disables (hides?) pause/prev/next
[portfolio_slideshow pagerpos=disabled]
>> Disables (hides?) thumbnailsWill try out tonight.
EDIT: beat me to it, Dalton! ??
