I think the same thing happened to me… I’ll have to double check this to be sure…
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. That was my first thought as well. My new server DB uses:
utf8mb4_general_ci
and the original Cloudways DB used:
utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci
I thought that if it fell under utf8mb4… the emojis should have been okay?
Thanks for your help. I found the custom fields setting for excerpts in Relevanssi. This is perfect.
One issue I found is it also looks like on queries with pagination, excerpts for those posts on page 2+ or load more are missing the auto excerpts.
Disabling Relevanssi plugin and those missing excerpts on page 2+ are then again displayed. This happens on the search page and blog post page. (the only ones I have to test with)Could this be a Relevanssi bug or more Bricks?
I’ll open an issue with Bricks as well.- This reply was modified 5 months, 3 weeks ago by Tom.
Thanks for the reply. So I can retrieve the post excerpt using dynamic data which does highlight any text that happens to be in the actual post excerpt.
What happens is the text is somewhere else like in a custom field or post content. Does the sentence with the match text get moved to the post excerpt by Relevanssi or can I retrieve this matching sentence some how?
After doing more testing it looks like the Admin search only returns excerpts if they actually exist for the post… I had thought it returned text from any part of the post if matching text was found. All right I use Bricks to build the pages so it looks like I had to enable a toggle for my query to turn on “Is main query (archive, Search) for the grid.
It was working before when this was enabled (as you are only suppose to turn it on if the query is not working). It was working before I installed Relevanssi?but only partly after installing it. Enabling it did the trick and everything is working fine now.
Hopefully my journey with this issue helps someone else! ??Hmmm…. technically this is still not solved. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not, that’s why I though it worked above… (more often not)
This also could maybe be in part a WP GridBuilder issue.

For the WordPress Search Page and archive search I use WP Gridbuilder Facets. One for the Text Search Field and then one for the load more button. I wanted a consistent search experience across the website.
The search works fine except when searching for something that does not exist.
For example if I search for “test” it brings up a certain number of pages. When I search for “tester” it brings up all the pages (when it should be none). In the Admin search it works as expected.
Both of these are template pages… I do have a similar setup on another dev website. I also have a FAQs page with this type of search setup which seems to work fine…- This reply was modified 5 months, 3 weeks ago by Tom.
Yup you where right. I had a code snippet setting something for WP GridBuilder and the id of the field was incorrect.
Thanks

In reply to: Plugin Updates Fail with error message but are Actually SuccessfulThis is what Elementor Support just told me about the plugin and translations issue:
Our developer is currently working on it since it is not only on the Elementor part but also with the other 3rd party plugins and WordPress.
Plugins developer and WordPress are collaborating to investigate and fix it.
Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you so much for your patience.I setup a support ticket for it as well a week or so ago.
I also added to it the Plugin Update failed error (but the plugin actually updates) I also get which also all happened at the same time.
Elementor at first tried to blame my host but I wrote back a long reply and they relooked into it further and could reproduce the problem.- This reply was modified 6 months, 3 weeks ago by Tom.

In reply to: Plugin Updates Fail with error message but are Actually Successful@beccawitz thanks for the tip.
@michelleips FYI what I did above did not clear the issue, the plugin update failed issue is back along with the translations update failed issue.
So back to square one.

In reply to: Plugin Updates Fail with error message but are Actually SuccessfulJust done some more testing. I’ve been restoring my backup and clearing all caches.
I always usually update plugins via the plugin page but I decided to do it as a test from the Updates page. It looks like updating plugins from the update page always work. Furthermore, if I update 1 or more plugin from the updates page I can then go ahead and update others from the plugins page without problems. That is until I clear the cache and then the problem will come back to the plugins page.
BTW when updating the plugins from the update page the translation updates also happen at least for the first 2 (es_ES, zh_CN). The last 1 doesn’t update (I am not sure if it is because it is last or it’s just that specific file en_CA). All these translation files are for Elementor.@michelleips Can you update plugins from the Update page?

In reply to: Plugin Updates Fail with error message but are Actually SuccessfulOkay just tested and the issue also happens with Surecart.
I actually found an interesting thing. For plugin updates I can get it to work for a while. I’ve been testing this in multiple ways on a staging server.
I try to update a plugin and it errors out (but still updates). I then without refreshing the plugin page try to update another plugin. This plugin will spin forever and not update.
But at this point if I refresh the page I can then update any plugin without a problem until I refresh the cache. This is with NGINX and Redis Full-Page Caching and Redis Object Cache. If I refresh the cache then the problem starts happening again.
This also remains true across restoring a backup. For example I update a plugin and it errors out, I then without refreshing a page then try to update another plugin and it just sits their spinning. I then restore a backup for the site and am able to update plugins without problems until I clear the cache and then the problem happens again.
On my other server with the actual production site that has the problem it uses Varnish cache and Redis Object Cache.I am not saying the caching is the issue as things were working fine before updating to WordPress 6.5.2 (which I believe is when the problem started)

In reply to: Plugin Updates Fail with error message but are Actually Successful@jeremy Herve, I’ve gotten the error message for any plugin I have updated with a license or has a secondary plugin that requires a license.
The plugins I have updated include Elementor Pro, TranslatePress, Crocoblock plugins (jetengine, jet tricks, etc…), WS Form Pro, and Perfmatters.I also have a Translation from Elementor getting a similar error (I mentioned this on page 1 in a later comment). It does not update though.
I have another site on the server with a some what similar stack and it doesn’t have this problem.- This reply was modified 7 months ago by Tom.

In reply to: [Super Page Cache] Nginx Settings for WP Cloudflare Super Page CacheAh, I have migrated the website from a Nginx/Apache where I used htaccess to just Nginx so I guess that is why I didn’t see anything.
I’ve setup a support request over here for my issue since it also deals with plugin updates (only for plugins that have licenses it seems)
