To figaro: I am happy I have installed it in the C directory as per the tutorial and not in a sub-directory and I have checked the ports and stopped Skype from using them.

To stvwlf: could not find how to access this htppd.confd file and when I did a search, it does not appear to exist on my hard drive.

I’ll have a look at Wamp.

I have to admit this is a bit like Greek to me and I only studied Latin. In fact I don’t understand your reply at all, but I do feel I have some folder or file in the wrong place.

This is where it is:
C:\
– xampplite
– htdocs
-wordpress
– xampp

The wp-config.php file is in the wordpress folder. It’ s not in a folder called Program Files but in a folder of its own on the C drive, which I presume makes no difference ?

re: The section name is
NameVirtualHost 127.0.0.1
This I don’t understand at all: where does this line appear ?
