Okay, I solved one of my problems by using a plugin. Not very user friendly or anything, but apparently the only way to get it working.

The issue with my archives is not yet solved, does anybody have any idea?

What I want is:

– you enter my site https://www.mysite.com, this only shows 1 post: the most recent;

– on https://www.mysite.com I want a link to the permalink of the previous post.

That’s all.

previous_postS_link links to pages, previous_post_link doesn’t seem to work on anything without a WP permalink, such as index.php.

I guess automatically redirecting traffic from index.php to the permalink of the most recent post would do the trick as well.

I do know about those tags, but they do not link to previous posts. They link to pages, which is not what I want.

Is there no way to get the previous_post_link to work in the index page?

I deleted everything of the server and uploaded a brand new WP installation, that obviously did the trick.

I do have a separate WordPress blog running on a subdomain, on the same database. But I’ve had that for a long time, cannot be the problem?
