In reply to: Post style elements disappearedThanks, but it’s highly unlikely that has anything to do with it. 75 of those errors are related to the diggIT plugin. Many of the remaining “errors” are questionable, and the vast majority are in text sidebar widgets anyhow. I view those so-called validators with a grain of salt.
Anyhow .. it’s fixed. I switched the most recent post over to “private” and found that suddenly all of the rest of the posts looked right again. When I re-published the post in question, everything remained fine. For some reason that fixed it.

In reply to: Unable to create categoriesHappy to help. I agree … it’s obviously something that needs to be addressed. It’s not in EVERY installation, though, which is strange. I have two active blogs. One is on ver. 2.1 (which I’m preparing to update) and one I just updated to 2.2. The one on 2.1 has this problem, but the one on 2.2 doesn’t. However, I’ve heard of people having this category problem (and the add link problem, which must be related) in versions 2.1 and beyond.

In reply to: Unable to create categoriesI’ve had this same problem and it IS related to .htaccess somehow. I hope it can be fixed at some point.
I found a solution that seems to work. Try logging into WP admin using the non-www address of your site. In other words, https://yoursite.com/wp-admin rather than https://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin. I had problems with creating categories, adding links to a post using the rich editor, and other stuff. This seems to have solved all of them.
This solution is a pain in the butt if you’ve rewritten your .htaccess to push toward the www version of your site. I use a www redirect plugin, so it’s just a matter of temporarily turning it off while I post.

In reply to: WordPress 2.1.1 totally unable to postOkay … I found the solution to BOTH the Firefox and IE7 problems mentioned in this thread. Access your site through the non-www version and try it then. In other words, if your site name is website.com, when you go to login, don’t type https://www.website.com. Now, this presents a bit of a problem if you have your htaccess written to force over to the www version. I’m using a WWW redirect plugin, so I can just disable that and then log back in. When you do this, both the posting problem with IE7 and the Firefox add link problem and, by the way, the problem people have had adding categories, all go away.
Pain in the butt, but it works.

In reply to: Can’t Add CategoryOkay … I accessed via the non-www version and it worked. There’s got to be some kind of problem in the code, because that’s a silly thing to break. Besides, I WANT people to access through the www version.
Any help on this from the coders?

In reply to: WordPress 2.1.1 Category Add Ajax Not WorkingAny help here? I’m having the same problem, I think. When I type in the name of a new category and click on “add”, the form clears but nothing is added.

In reply to: WordPress 2.1.1 totally unable to postI’d love to hear the answer as well. I’m having the same problem with IE6 and IE7 not letting me have access to the post body in order to type into the form.
Also, in Firefox I can’t add a link using the popup box. I saw there was a “solution” posted to this that included clearing your cache. That didn’t work for me.
Let’s stick to the issue for now, though. About IE7 and the post body problem. Any solutions?

In reply to: SEO help? Google only caching header.I hope to God you don’t work technical support somewhere, because you’d be the tech support guy everyone despised — the type that treats everyone with disdain because they don’t know as much as you. You’d be much more helpful if you weren’t a jackass about it.

In reply to: SEO help? Google only caching header.whooami – A mere “I don’t know what the problem is, but you really should upgrade to the latest version” would have sufficed. Thanks for nothing on the original question, by the way.
Charle – Thanks much. I appreciate it.

In reply to: SEO help? Google only caching header.I’m intrigued now. More of an explanation might be useful, because I have no idea what the heck you’re talking about.

In reply to: Admin slowdown and missing paragraph breaksOkay, well I’m about to give up an install a new theme. I’m looking at a couple right now. If you think you have an idea of what the problem is, but need to see the theme I was using, let me know and I’ll switch it back. I’ll be monitoring.

In reply to: Need help with getting Tag Cloud to work..I’m having the exact same problem. I tried adding the tag cloud to my sidebar and I tried creating a page with the cloud on it. Nothing shows up at all. I also tried the tag cloud widget mentioned here. Nada. I’m using the WP-Andreas01 theme.
