Well, I checked it the first time (and again) and there was not really any useful information for this problem. Even when there is no other plugin activated, still throws my site 404 Not found and when deleting, it breaks all the permalinks despite I’m doing what you are suggesting there few post earlier.

Anything else why it might not work?

I had it already, but couldn’t figure out how to share only categories. And I faced few other plugins doing exactly the same, not giving option to do tags and categories separately. Is it even possible to do in a plugin or should I just patch up the tag cloud of individual sites with own plugin? :S

The slug category is correct and saving the permalink doesn’t help.

Okay, well, thanks anyway for your patience to clear up that for me. ??

I’m working on this blog community, where the categories are preassigned and shared to the whole community of blogs. I’ve taken away the rights to create categories with another plugin (User Role Editor). I thought this is the plugin to assign the categories as super admin and then share them to other blogs in the network to use when creating new posts/pages in their site. I stumbled on this plugin again and again with different search word, so I thought this was the plugin to do that kind of a thing.

I just activated the plugin, it does make the URL look as promised, but instead of taking me to the category page, it shows only “404 Not Found, The requested URL /books/ was not found on this server”. Here’s a pic of it, and a link for the page (you can click it in the end of this page).

I’m using Google Analytics Dashboard for WP by Alin Marcu and WordPress SEO by Team Yoast. For theme I have Decode by Scott Smith.

Thanks or info, Craig, I only stumbled on those plugins that removed some functions rather than made the whole thing look like own experience. But I think it’s mainly making it look like my theme with CSS and removing functions according the user roles.

All the domains are with the same ID.

However, I contacted to their support and they found out that the safe_mode of PHP was on for that domain and it was causing the problem. So everything is working well after I turned it off.

Thanks for helping out thou to find out the problem, I’m so rusty with these things. ??

Ipstenu: I did separate install and I’m running all the required folders on 777 and still it doesn’t want to create the uploads-folder.

I better ask help/double-check from the service provider first, since I’m running other domains on the same server that do have also WP installed – same versions even, yet none of those have the same problem. Maybe there there’s something iffy going on the domain settings itself since I had bit of setup problem with the domain itself few months ago.

Mark: Yes, I’ve given all the rights for folders of wp-content, wp-content/uploads, wp-content/uploads/sites. However, I’ve added two sites, yet there is no folder for them in the site-section at all despite I have added all the extra stuff in config-file as well as the .htaccess-file.

Ipstenu: Site upload space is 1000 MBs, single file 10 MBs. Also the temporary folder of my site have used just few MBs (around 17, to be exact). I thought the wp-content/uploads had own /tmp-folder, sorry for the mix up!

EDIT: I created another WordPress on my site just to check out does it run on same problem and yep, there is something iffy about the my server or so since it can’t create the uploads-folders to begin with. I better go and troubleshoot what’s the problem why my server doesn’t allow WordPress to create folders or so.

Thanks for the help thou, it really poked me in right direction with this problem! ??

    Thread Starter Empuska

    (@empuska)

Marc: There is enough space, my max file size is 10 mbs.

Ipstenu: I don’t have /tmp-folder to begin with…? It was not in the instructions, when I did it, but I vaguely remember it being mentioned somewhere, when I did it the whole thing the first time (ages ago).

    Thread Starter Empuska

    (@empuska)

It gives the error message, but I remember it used to be more informative than “Couldn’t upload files to wp-content/uploads”. Then again, I might have had different problem before.

Yes, I have normally uploaded the image via WordPress’ flie uploader, all the sizes are generated and there is no errors or messages after I press “Save Crop”.

After pressing “Save Crop”, the plugin appears working on something, but instead of showing a cropped image anywhere in the context (in the Crop Featured Image-plugin popup, in the post it panel, or in the actual page), it shows the standard thumbnail that was generated during the upload.

JavaScript shows this sort of an error:

    Save Function Debug submitted image-data
