Yeah seems to work for me…. not pushed my latest changes to the development server yet, which has SSL configured, but I am 99.99% it will work as is with relative urls. Thanks Sean, great work.

Wait…. actually just using the relative url in the setting in the backend should work fine shouldn’t it?

e.g. /wp-content/uploads/2014/01/credits.png rather than https://website.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/credits.png

This would automatically use the protocol based on the address of the page. So assuming you have woocommerce configured correctly, ‘Force secure checkout’ when live it wont break in dev and when live.

Just a thought, where HTTPS might not be available when developing, locally it would be good if the protocol was dealt with automatically.

Would stripping the http: or https: from the image src would solve this? Then however the page is rendered it would use the ‘current’ protocol.

e.g. https://website.dev/checkout would use http and https://website.com/checkout would use https.

@seanvoss, I might be missing something in the Stripe docs but I assume that JCB and Discover aren’t accepted in the UK as I get the following error when trying (test).

Payment error:Your card is not supported. Please use a Visa, MasterCard, or American Express card

Consequently I was going to replace the image, removing those icons, but am concerned that when I update plugin it will get overwritten again.

Any suggestions? An option to replace image in the WooCommerce payment options would be awesome ??

@andrewNevins, thanks anyway but I’d bet my house it’s a hosting issue rather than WordPress. This post is turning into a place to vent rather than finding a resolution. United in frustration!

There is talk on Twitter that it could be a WordPress focused attack on 1and1 servers and 1and1 has closed down (redirecting) the WP admin panels as a security measure (the loop back). This is just speculation though.

Playing devils advocate for a second, I personally would prefer that my 12 WP sites with 1and1 are locked down temporarily rather than they get hacked and I have to go through the hassle of restoring from backups. I am pretty sure my customers would too. Brand integrity etc.

@orgismus, at a guess, if 1and1 are just redirecting WP-admin traffic, your phone’s app probably still connects through some sort of API that’s not blocked.

FWIW, I can count on one hand the minor issues I have had with 1and1 in the last 5 years of service with 0 serious issues. I have probably a dozen sites with them.

That being said, due to the continued, reliable service I have received, I clearly haven’t had to deal with their customer service extensively or for anything serious.

Will update as I find out more.

Same issue here today. Defo a 1and1 issue, though yet to hear back from them. Will update if I get a resolution.

I am having the same problem here. Toggling the check box makes no difference as to whether Open Graph is disabled. Its always on.

I just pondered this question too. A shame that 10 months have gone by and no one has posted.
