I am the only one who has, or has ever had, access to my account. There is no other user who would even have access to upload photos. The photos upload, technically, but instead of there being an image shown when the upload completes, it’s just a box with the alt text contained inside the box. It almost seems as though it’s a systemic WordPress issue or database issue, but it doesn’t look as though there’s a systemic WordPress issue going on, and my hosting service (BlueHost) says that all WordPress issues have to go through WordPress. They don’t support it in any way (apparently).

I’m operating off of version 2.8.2. I’ve never upgraded from the version I initially installed.

I’m wondering why I’d need to change permissions if this has worked beautifully up until two days ago.

I can’t figure out how to try what you suggested. I apologize. I’m a bit new to WordPress.

This isn’t making sense. It worked perfectly until 2 days ago. I’m the only administrator. I’ve changed nothing. Any other suggestions?

I’m not clear what the chmod 777 directive means. Can you explain further? Also, do I need to upgrade WordPress each time there is a new version? Could that be posing a problem?
