In reply to: Simple Reach Plugin ProblemGlad to hear everything is working. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do.
Yes. The custom fields are to further customize the meta data passed back to SimpleReach for the post. They are not required because they are pulling from the post if the custom boxes are empty.

In reply to: Simple Reach Plugin ProblemWe have recently released a new version of the plugin (0.5.8) which resolves some conflicts with other plugins. Please make sure that you are on the latest version. If you are on the latest version, and The Slide is still only showing infrequently, then please go into the plugin and click the “SimpleReach support” link. It will bring you a contact page. Please fill in your information and submit a ticket and we’ll go from there. Thanks.
After you register, there is typically about an hour or so before The Slide starts to work. But that is also slightly dependent upon traffic.
There were some plugin conflict issues with v0.5.7 and we resolved all that we found for the latest version (0.5.8). Please send an email to [email protected] with your site and we’ll take a look to see if there is anything else going on. To give us the most information, please click on the “SimpleReach support” link in the plugin and fill out the form that you are taken to. That will submit a new support ticket with debugging information for us to use. Thanks.

In reply to: [SimpleReach Slide] [Plugin: SimpleReach Slide] Nothing Appearing…I just went to the URL and it appears to be working for me. I also checked our database and see that you have content stored and reports being created. Are you still having issues?
Modifying the slide out time and social buttons are definitely something we have in the road map. Keep on the look out as we add new features with every release.
To address each of those questions one at a time:
The Slide should not recommend the article that you are reading. What can happen is that the URL of an article is changed and since the uniqueness of the article is keyed off of the URL, it appears as though the same article is being recommended for the page you are on. Additionally, the same potential is there if there is only 1 article available to be recommended in the pool of available articles. New articles take a few minutes after the users go to the pages to show up in the available pool.
The filter by tag option is sort of there already. If you take advantage of the channel feature, you’ll be able to do something akin to what you are looking for. The channels feature in the WordPress plugin is only built out for filtering by categories. But diving in with a bit of custom code can take care of it. If you have any further customization questions, feel free to ask via [email protected].
Again, if you have something specific to your site that you would like us to investigate (ie you have a large article pool and are still receiving the same recommendation over and over), please don’t hesitate to send an email to [email protected] with your information and we can take a look.
We do have a way to do this, it just isn’t built into the plugin yet (though we happily accept patches as pull requests on Github [here]). If you installed the Javascript code aside from the plugin, then you can add an end date to the article (meaning that article will be removed from the available recommendation pool). You can find more information on adding the code directly to your theme here. It is on the roadmap to add that ability directly into the plugin.
Additionally, our algorithm gets smarter as more people on your site use it. So older articles will slowly drop lower in the recommendation pool than the newer ones. If after a few days, you still feel like the algorithm isn’t performing, please contact us at [email protected] so we can look into it. Thanks.

In reply to: [SimpleReach Slide] [Plugin: SimpleReach Slide] google 1I added the Google +1 social button to your Slide. Then when I went to check your site to make sure it was there, I noticed you removed it. I’m really interested to hear why. You can always follow up directly at [email protected]. Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you.

In reply to: [SimpleReach Slide] SimpleReach Slide – where displayedCurrently it is not possible in the plugin to have The Slide display on any of those pages. We do our best to only show up on pages that contain actual content like a post page or a page (if that option is selected).
If you would like to edit your theme, then you could put the slide code on each of those pages and set the disable:true field in the code to ensure that the home, category, and taxonomy pages are not then added to the pool of available articles to be recommended. For more information on available options, you can view this document here.
If you have any specific additional questions, you can reach out to us at [email protected] and we will do our best to help. You can also send this to us as a feature request (same address) for us to log it in our system if you have any additional ideas. Thanks.
Currently there is no way to modify this setting. We make calculations based on a few factors to try to guess the best time to slide out. In future revisions, we may make this configurable.
If you’d like to change which social network buttons are available on The Slide. Please send an email to [email protected] and we will help you out. Thanks.

In reply to: [SimpleReach Slide] Can't registerJon, we are really sorry this is happening and would like to work to have this resolved. The next release of the plugin is going to be a maintenance release with a lot better error checking. When we release a new version of the plugin this week, I hope we can get this resolved. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Does your installation of PHP have curl installed?

In reply to: [SimpleReach Slide] Add Google 1?There are plans to add this to the plugin. The next release is going to be a maintenance release. While we don’t have a feature release plugin date yet, it’s definitely on the radar.
In the mean time, if you’d like to have Google +1 or any of the social icons changed, please send an email to [email protected] and we’ll have those changes made for you. Thanks.
