i know, right now im not applying updates to the theme…i made small changes to a lot of files to get the theme the way i needed it…so im trying to learn how to create the child theme without losing all the changes

ok…somehow the index.php file was missing????…i replaced it and the site came back up…then i applied your masterful fix and the vertical line is now gone…thanks a lot for your help

no problem, i appreciate the help…i commented out the line, but now the site wont load…i changed it back and the site still wont load…any idea what could have happened?

ok, i found the line in the style.css file, and commented it out, but the vertical line remains…i also tried deleting it, same outcome…and thanks a lot for your help

yes, i can edit the css file directly…so, i should just eliminate that line, correct?

No i modified this theme myself. I’m new to wordpress but i was able to figure a lot out on my own, but this has me stumped. My original problem was the menu button in the top left of the main menu. I couldn’t get rid of it, so i asked in this forum and someone suggested adding this code to fix it:

when i added it, the menu button disappeared, but the menu wouldn’t expand when clicked. So i removed that code and added the line you sent, but the menu still won’t expand.

Ok, i added the line to the header.php file. It seems to have added the word “Menu” to the upper left corner of the page, but didn’t seem to fix my problem. Also, there is a menu button that now appears in the top left corner of the menu itself. If you look at the site you can see what is happening now.

thanks for the suggestion…i installed custom css and inserted the code w it, but the posts still contain the date/author links…is there something im missing?

i think i solved the problem, i simply copied the wordpress directories to the root, and now its coming up fine…i have my file options set to show all files, but still wasnt able to find the .htaccess file…starngely though, it is there now…i didnt make any changes to it, but everything seems fine…thanks for the help
