Disregard, the problem was another plugin. Deactivating the other plugin solved the problem.

The backend can remain the same. I would understand that an ‘event’ would be whatever I set the variable too. For example, the event can be a ‘date’ and the calendar would show all the dates that visitors have scheduled but on the backend these would be events.
