oh btw the only thing i was unable to translate was
wordpress/wp-admin/edit.php:72
original string “% comments”
whenever I tried to put anything else but the original string in the translation area it resulted in the following error:
e.g. “% Kommentare” would sprout:
17:17:19: D:\documents\po\de_DE.po:337: ‘msgstr’ is not a valid PHP format string, unlike ‘msgid’. Reason: In the directive number 1, the character ‘K’ is not a valid conversion specifier.

in the translation the first character after % always provokes this error, no matter what character, unless the string is identical with the original…

ok i have comlpeted a “formal german” po file now. want me to add it to the wiki?
there’s still a lot of strings in wordpress that aren’t translated in this po file but all strings found by poedit are translated…

not sure if this is correct but i just added *.php to the c++ parser setting and am now getting results.
the keyword strings need ot be “__” and “e_” apparently.
translation now begins ??

err coppermine is full of sloppy code, has a most inflexible template system with zillions of hardcoded tags and validates as… err HMTL? not even that since there’s missing tags all over the place. just take ANY page coppermine creates and paste it into your html eddy and do a sytnax check…
i don’t know how people come to praise coppermine. yeah it “works” but is it any good? not by my standards.
gallery is better than coppermine, still also has major flaws and for sure is simply overkill for WP imho.
i was more thinking along the lines of integrating image posting more neatly with WP (e.g. as in drupal with image module), supporting EXIF data and thumb navigation, all javascript less, since I really don’t want to use javascript if i can avoid it.
no “gallery” script is needed to achive that. besides I came to the conclusion that any and CMS to date falls short on “content management” since for me everything can be content, not just text and images…

so you all get this behavior? i thought it was only me again… I logged in once a few months ago and am still logged in every time i fire up wp-admin, even after nightly upgrades.

babel is certainly an alternative if you need a page translated.
however, i’d need a very precise way to offer content in 3 languages accurately. the “categories” could possibly abused for this but would still only be a work around, no?

i managed to crash “preview4” 3 times already within 2 days of use.
still, it’s more stable than firesomthing anyday.
but for now I use IE when doing wp admin stuff… the horror!

heheh! “shift click” yadda yadda people don’t even know what F11 is for when browsing, let alone that they can click a mouse button and hold down a key while doing so!
Last time i tried to explain to a web n00b why it is important to have a stringent navigation on all sites. the impression was that since there is a browser back and next button you can jump back and forth on all pages! Then I switched that toolbar off and WHOA! Help Help! Turn it on again! Pleeese!
unfortunately this is no isolated incident. it’s the majority of today’s internet users. So whenever I link a PDF e.g. it will open in a new window since otherwise people will just be confused where the heck the site went they just were on…
Other than that I hate popups ??
