I discovered the problem with the assistance of a friend. It was a PHP problem, not WP or the plug-in. All’s fine.

The old posts are just fine. EXIF shows up correctly. I am wondering if the issue is with WP 4.0. This only started happening after the update. The reason I say that is because when I upload a new photo to my gallery, I get an error just saying “HTTP error.” Although the photo is uploaded, there is no icon for it. The photo appears on the post, but in the media gallery it’s a blank icon.

I do not have the Google plug-in and am running into the same (or similar) problem. When I try to upload an image to my library, I get an HTTP error. The image appears in the library as a blank icon. Even though it shows an error, I discovered that the image does get uploaded. I can even insert it in a post, but the preview icon in the media gallery is blank. This happened after updating to WP 4.0. I’ve tried to deactivate my plug-ins but that did not help. Any other suggestion?

Thanks for your kind offer and PHP filter suggestion. I had read about it. I just don’t know PHP at all.

As for the minor glitch with the credit, I can send you the file via email, I suppose.

The credit you refer to must be something that Adobe Lightroom automatically adds when I export the photo. I see the following: “Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.3 (Macintosh).” That would explain the “acintosh)” you mentioned.

Luckily, I also have GraphicConverter, which allows me to edit the EXIF information. So, for the camera model I can easily insert the complete entry for Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70.

Thanks again for your help and feedback! This is indeed a great plug-in! I’ll be anxiously waiting for future updates. Perhaps they’ll eventually include the option to order the entries in some other fashion.

I had a chance to experiment a bit more. I used a program to modify the EXIF information. When I did that, everything seemed to show correctly. This leaves me with the idea that either all various cameras I’ve used or Adobe Lightroom is not saving the metadata correctly. You can see examples of this in the link I provided, https://fotomen.org/. The photo for Tree of Life appears twice. The edited one is “Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life.” I corrected the camera name, merging from the original camera make and camera model. I also added the GPS coordinates. It is interesting to notice that the bridge and Austin photos were taken with a Nikon D5000. However, the camera name only appears as Corporation. Why would it be truncated?

Please take a look at https://fotomen.org/ The four shots there should show the examples. The strangest of all is the most recent shot, Bandelier NM. That was taken just a couple of weeks ago using a new camera from Panasonic. Nothing shows. The other shots are much older.

The odd thing is that when I look at the metadata using Lightroom or another program, it shows the complete camera name under the label “Camera” and the specific model under a separate field. In other words, the metadata for Nikon D5000 shows up as two separate entries. The same goes for the Panasonic Lumiz DMC-FZ70. The other issue is that if the manufacturer’s name is long, e.g., Olympus Corporation of America, that shows up completely in the metadata in Lightroom, but is truncated in the Exifography as if only 6-8 characters were allowed. For now I have simply unchecked the camera name and am not including it in my entries when I publish my posts.

I have the widget on my sidebar, but I see the entry line is using a large font size. It would be great if I could change the font size there. Instead of a large size, I’d like to switch to the regular font size used on the page. Do I need to update the CSS sheet?

I added the line in the stylenews.css and can see the box is larger indeed. It shows in any of the review pages but not in the home page. I think the theme could actually be the issue, as you suggest. Perhaps I should try to use a WP default theme, such as Twenty Fourteen and see how it goes.

For the time being I’ll deactivate the plugin as I won’t have much time to work on this. I’ll work on my problem after the holidays.

I’m having the same problem suddenly. Until about 2 weeks ago, it worked well. Now, it shows the spinning wheel and the status never passes the “cleaning up” stage. No backup file is ever created. ??

Any suggestions?
