Thank you for the follow up. I am blocking the hostname. Should I be blocking the referrer? Guess that would make sense, as this is what the 404 log file calls it.

The current block for the hostname is *.ru and see that I now have 4 blocks. Interesting….

I have added the referrer of *site.ru* as you suggested, just to be sure. Let’s see how many blocks it gets.

Please note, originally I was throttling at 5 404s per minute, but upped that because of a bug I was experiencing in my staging plug-in. The settings, however, have always been Throttle.

Thanks, but no thanks. The settings are to throttle and WordFence is blocking instead.

Super! Thank you very much. I understand your desire to stay away from a configuration screen and all of the suggestions I would have are specific to the shortcodes.

1) Allow us to select whether or not we want a background on the frame.
2) Allow us to select the color of the background on the frame.

I found out that there was some invisible crud from a paste of the original shortcode. Cleaned that out and everything worked fine.

Would still like to customise the text “Explore 3d Space”…

Turns out that this was an unexpected behaviour related to another plug-in.
