Oh! Whoopsie, my searching was obviously below-par. Thanks for that, will have a play. Didn’t touch any templates, have now worked out that the nickname field is restricted to 50 characters so when I copied and pasted a long tag in there it chopped off the end of it and the unclosed tag then proceeded to screw up the rest of the page.

Aha – have solved A) myself by poking around with the database. Help on B) would be lovely though.
