    Hi there,

Always appreciated suggestions like this – thanks!

We’ll definitely keep it in mind.

Also, WP.org likes to keep these forums focused on the tool at hand (the free theme). Feel free to contact us directly when it comes to Pro/Pricing questions: https://generatepress.com/support

    Thanks again!

    Hey Zsombor,

First, I want to apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I’m not sure what happened to your last topic – I don’t believe our team has the ability to delete posts here on .org.

We’re currently going through a ton of big changes inside GeneratePress and GenerateBlocks, so we’re very busy internally and within the private repos of the plugins. This can make it hard for people outside of our team to contribute, as they’re obviously not involved in those internal talks about the direction we’re going in.

I do my best to review all PRs, but it can definitely take some time, as current projects and milestones are our main focus. Whenever I get a free 20 minutes, I check issues and PRs to see if there’s discussion to be had. I’d like to do better on the discussion front, as I agree it would encourage contributions.

Right now, as we’re undergoing some major architectural changes, it’s not likely that public PRs will be merged unless they’re unrelated to the work we’re doing. Once we get GB 2.0 released, there will be fewer major changes to make, so it will become more likely that PRs will be approved if they fix a bug in the proper way.

Hope this helps, and sorry again for the delay!

    Thanks!

I definitely suggest taking a look at GP One if you haven’t, and our Global Styles system in GenerateBlocks Pro. I think the responsive controls there are exactly what you’re looking for.

I’ll be sure to update here once we release GenerateBlocks 2.0, which will bring the same level of control that Global Styles has to our local block styling.

    Appreciate all the feedback ??

    Hi there,

The content could be imported via the WordPress importer, but the actual options that are imported require GP Premium to run the process, as it does a lot of configuration based on the chosen site.

That being said, I love the idea of being able to do this via WP CLI or something similar. I’m going to open a ticket internally to look into that.

As this is more of a pre-sale question, please feel free to contact us directly: https://generatepress.com/support

The WP.org forums are limited to support for the free theme itself, due to their rules.

    Thanks!

I agree. We’re in the process of bringing our new style engine to our free blocks, so you’ll have the same control over responsive design as you do in our Global Styles feature.

We’ve also just released GeneratePress One, which packages our premium theme and GenerateBlocks Pro into one product. You can see this at our website: https://generatepress.com

We’re working towards building an all-in-one system that allows you to build high-performing websites without needing to write any code at all.

Of course, our free versions will continue to offer a lot of foundational features, while the pro versions bring those features to a new level to allow for full control over designing your website.

I have now found a bug in responsive controls for table element. I guess i need to report it to GB team.

    Please do ??

Thanks again for taking the time to share your feedback. It’s appreciated.

    Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review.

Our free versions are meant to serve as a solid base for your website. They focus primarily on performance, stability and security. That being said, I think that the free version of GenerateBlocks has a ton of controls that allow you to do a lot of things, especially for a free version.

Very limited in responsive management, global controls of style properties is very limited, even in premium edition.

I’m assuming we’re talking about GenerateBlocks here? If so, we just recently released our Global Styles feature in GenerateBlocks Pro. It gives you unlimited responsive management (you can build your own media queries), and almost every style property you can think of. You can check it out here:

    https://generateblocks.com/new-global-styles-pattern-library/
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN7ivne6R9k
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWzzVhESXJc
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yezwCmQNbU4&t=2s

I can confidently say that the responsive controls are vastly superior to anything else in the market when using this new Global Style engine. You can even build @container queries if you want.

This style engine we developed will be implemented in the free blocks soon.

but UI lacks an ability to copy and paste styles between common element types

This is a feature in GenerateBlocks Pro.

It seems all these page editors suffer in wordpress from editor view and public view caching issues, always a hassle to get a real view without having to go to private or incognito.

The plugin itself doesn’t do any caching, so you shouldn’t be seeing any issues caused by GenerateBlocks here. If you are, a bug report would be great so we can check out what’s going on.

A lot of annoying usability issues but it seems to be a young project so hopefully in time it will mature.

We’re always working on improving it. If you have any specific suggestions to improve usability, please feel free to open a support topic.

    Thanks again.

    Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review.

I went ahead and reviewed your topic that brought on this review – I’ll post it here for context: https://generate.support/topic/recommended-way-of-assigning-different-image-sources-for-responsive-hero-images/

While discourse like this can sometimes be frustrating, it usually ends up saving a ton of time over us guessing the answers and providing solutions that won’t work for your specific scenario. We do our best to get a full understanding of the situation at hand, so we can provide the best possible answer/solution.

It looks like David ended up doing exactly that.

As for the extortionist business model comment.. I do not see any reference to GenerateBlocks Pro, and I’m certainly not seeing anyone telling you to buy it.

While what you’re doing sounds like it should be easy (I don’t disagree with you there), it’s simply not due to the way WordPress creates and serves up images. The answer that David provided was incredibly detailed, and it looks to me like he took a lot of care to write it up so it would solve the issue and be easy to follow.

While I am of course biased, I believe we have one of the best support teams in the industry. We have certainly not “quietly quit”, and we will continue to help our users in any way we can – even if we have to ask some questions to get there.

    Hi there,

This is a free theme option, so the pro version shouldn’t have any effect on it.

I haven’t seen this error before, but I’m assuming it’s something obscure going on. Have you tried deactivating your other plugins to see if there’s some sort of conflict?

If all else fails, we can turn the option on/off with a PHP filter.

    Let me know ??
