I found out what my problem was. I had updated to WP 2.7 using WP automatic upgrade. I downloaded a fresh 2.7, uploaded it to my server and everything worked perfectly fine.

i have no problem using the browser uploader. my problem is strcitly not being able to see or use the flash uploader. my problem is not a permissions problem. it’s a WP + Flash problem.

I finally realized that my 42mb sql file was mostly from a plugin that was caching huge amounts of info to my mysql file. i dumped those tables and got the file down to 7mb.

I still couldn’t get phpmyadmin to load the sql file. i finally just upgraded to wp 2.0.5 and used the db backup plugin to create a backup copy of the file and used that instead.

and it worked!

To this day, the only way i can get restore a backed up file is to use the back up plugin that comes with the default install of WP.

I’m trying to avoid hacking the wp install. “too many threads to keep in old duder’s head”

I didn’t see a More… or an Archives.
there aren’t any archives at the moment, but i see what you mean, I’ll have to put in a “more button” for sure. thanks for the good advice.
