In reply to: [Optimizer] menu not displaying properlyDitto. I have one line of eight pages/menu titles and it was below the name of my blog. Since the most recent update, every page title in the menu shifted up and to the right of the page, as if the distinction of the Header title lines and the menu lines below it was erased.
I can’t get this back to the way it was. Please advise.
Matt,
Though it took almost a week, my site crashed again with WordFence disabled. While this does not clear WordFence entirely (it still is using a LOT of resources and may be exacerbating the issue), WordFence is not the primary culprit. I was finally able to isolate the plugin that IS the troublemaker.
I will be enabling WordFence again, but I hope that future versions concentrate on tightening its use of server resources.
Thanks.
Matt,
I ran P3 at different times and the results were the same, so I doubt that WordFence was in the middle of the same function every time. Not ruling that out, just less likely.
As for scans, no, I have none of those higher intensity functions enabled.
I have a another less trafficked site also running WordFence, and it too is consuming far more memory and CPU processes–just not enough to cause the site to shut down. Still, a concern. And again, this is an increase since the previous version.
The error logs show only that too much memory is being consumed. Sadly, it vaguely traces this back to the index.php file in WordPress, and all that tells me is that someone tried to hit the site, it attempted to load, and it failed due to memory restrictions–which we’ve determined are due to too many background processes.
My ISP, midphase, is saying that the site keeps spawning processes that then fail to close, eventually exceeding the server limits. The ISP raised those limits and all it did was permit more processes–which also failed to close, causing the same error. They can’t tell me exactly what those processes are linked to, but since disabling WordFence and returning to my previous firewall plugin, the site has calmed down dramatically.
I hope that helps. Wish there were further details to provide.

In reply to: [Contextual Related Posts] same 5 "related posts" on every pageSwitched everything over to InnoDB. Will that help?

In reply to: [Contextual Related Posts] same 5 "related posts" on every pageThat’s it. No FULLTEXT index. Only a PRIMARY index.
How does one generate a FULLTEXT index? If it’s part of WordPress, how come it’s not enabled for my database?
BTW, all the tables in my DB are type MYISAM, but the posts table (and subscribe to comments) are shown as InnoDB.
Shouldn’t they all be the same type?

In reply to: [Contextual Related Posts] same 5 "related posts" on every pageMy host is midphase.
Yes, my posts table exists and has entries, though it (and all the other tables) have been renamed from wp_posts to zzz_posts, where “zzz” is a more secure term used to reduce hacking attempts.
If your plugin is specifically looking for wp_posts, then we’ve located the issue right there.

In reply to: [Contextual Related Posts] same 5 "related posts" on every pageDoes it work if you:
a) Recreate the index and delete the inbuilt plugin cache
b) Do a complete delete and reinstall the plugin?Nope & nope.
The context engine just does not work.
With titles alone, it works OK, but that’s a little underwhelming given what the plugin is supposed to deliver.

In reply to: [Contextual Related Posts] same 5 "related posts" on every pageDitto. The Context seems to make no difference, even with the Taxonomy plugin installed too. The only thing that seems to make much of a difference is limiting the search to the title.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] [Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] Doubled META description?Joost,
I removed the added META info in my theme and things work fine now.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] [Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] Doubled META description?Joost,
Then the question would have to be, “If the comments are not there, how is the info being added by the plugin?”
There are no comments around the Description in my single post pages, yet they reflect the text from the plugin.
The other question would have to be “Why did this work fine with All in One SEO if it’s a theme problem?”
Yes, you need to create a blank file with that name (and also .gz) and add them, both writable through CHMOD settings, to the same directory that contains the guts of your WordPress installation.
My sitemap has no trailing slash. I don’t have the forced trailing slash enabled in the plugin because all my pages end in .html.
Always delete the old sitemap files, too, before you attempt a rebuild.
Also, did you rebuild your permalinks? All you need to do there is just resave your existing config.
