In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] WOW@nesdam1981 – Just to confirm, NextGEN Gallery is free. ??
Just a note that we’ve already fixed this, but the fix isn’t released yet. It’ll be in the next release in early January.
If you do submit a bug report, consider putting “For Erick” in the title so it gets flagged for my attention.
Hi Kendra – We’ve had several team members test NextGEN again 5.0.1 again just to double check and we’re not able to duplicate this issue. That means there’s likely something about your environment or some other condition that we don’t have but that’s necessary to duplicate (even though I know you did a good job trying to remove plugins/themes as a variable in your environment, which we appreciate).
We’re quite sensitive to ensuring NGG is flawless with Gutenberg right now. If you want to and are open to it, you can submit a bug report with your details. We’ll follow up to ask you for creds there, and have a dev log in and take a look to see if we can understand the issue.
We’d love to solve this. But its hard to do without seeing or duplicating.
You can submit bugs at https://www.imagely.com/report-bug/
If not, that’s ok too. We’ll be trying a few more things on our own too.
@timelymanner1 – You can sumbit a bug report at:
https://www.imagely.com/report-bug/@thehowarde – NGG support png and gif files as well. That said, I just tested this prior to replying, and I DID manage to duplicate the error above with a gif file. That’s news to us, but I have a dev looking into now that I’ve duplicated.
Again, prior to this we were unable to duplicate, so I’m glad we can so we can fix it. I’d still love a bug report from someone if someone is willing to give us access to evaluate.
Hey all – Erick, CEO at Imagely. There are enough reports on this issue that we consider it high priority. It probably needs an immediate release.
However, we are unable to duplicate it.
Gaby noted above that we’d like to have someone with this issue submit a bug report. Once we get the bug report, we can get creds for a site with the issue and troubleshoot it.
Time is of the essence given the holidays coming up this weekend. So if anyone here has this issue and is willing to have us login into and look at your site, I want to encourage you to please submit a bug report as soon as possible:
https://www.imagely.com/report-bug/
Put “For Erick” or “For Gaby” in the subject so it gets our attention.

Just wanted to post an update here so you know we haven’t forgotten about this. I mentioned before we were very busy with the Gutenberg / WordPress 5.0 release (just released yesterday).
We have, in the meantime, actually worked on this and implemented a solution. We should be able to release it relatively soon.
Can you confirm you have a lightbox selected if you go to Gallery > Other Options > Lightbox Effects? Perhaps try changing the lightbox effect there if so, and then try changing it back?
Hi – Yes, you can upload all your images via FTP. But then you will need to:
1) Go to the Gallery > Add Gallery/Images > Import Folder page, and import each folder so that the images are in NextGEN Gallery.
2) Actually go to the relevant pages or posts, and insert the galleries you want for them to show on the front end.
Hope that addresses the question you’re asking.
Just wanted to confirm there’s no security risk in this file. We double checked it. It’s a false positive.
@ksms – Can you please try gonig to Plugins; deactivate and delete NextGEN; and reinstall. Your existing galleries will be safe during the process. Let’s just confirm that something didn’t go wrong when you updated and that all the plugin files are there and correct.
NextGEN should work fine with with PHP 7.2. I just updated a local instance of mine to 7.2 just to confirm, and it is indeed working fine. I also don’t see errors. But I’m passing your note here on to the dev team for additional input.
Thanks for the update. I have to be honest, I’ve never heard of this before. Since you’ve solved it, we’ll let it go for now.

In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] Random Images@favdes – that’s not actually a valid NextGEN shortcode. Can you tell us where you saw that? If you’re on a page or post, have you tried just clicking the Add Gallery button to open our Insert Gallery Window? You can then select Random as the source.
Update: I see there are actually a couple other reports of this in the forums. We’re going to try and task a dev to this to see if we can figure out the conditions in which this is occurring.
