Yep. It will be possible to use any HTML code in category descriptions: text, images, video, slide-shows, etc.

But as of now, I’m trying to find the best way to display my product categories in a vertical sidebar where they have impact and stand out as opposed to boring text links..

If you use a custom JS menu with links to actual Ecwid pages, then it can be customized in million different ways : -)

. Do you have any screen shots of how the category description feature will look? I like the idea of having a tool tip on hover of a product category name or image because the customer can read the description without having to click into the category, saves clicks and time for the customer. If the description doesn’t interest him, then he can move to the next category by moving his mouse.. What do you think?

Does Ecwid support custom merchant gateways? We have the API for some Australian bank payment gateways and wish to use them.

So I’m looking for a plugin, ideally, that allows me to schedule when the page displays the ecwid code, or when it skips to a <h1> This Store is Closed After 10pm</h1>

I beleive there is no ready WP plugin which can do this. So some custom coding will be required anyway.

ecwid integration went smoothly, but upon further exploration I found that it can’t make use of of the greatest search functions yet created

1. If you use Ecwid on a secure page, it is necessary to enable the “Secure page” option in the plugin’s settings. After that Ecwid will start to use HTTPS to load all resources, scripts and images.

2. In order to fix the problem with the image it is necessary to modify your WordPress theme and replace the absolute link with a relative one.

E.g.

Are these time restrictions category-specific?

Ecwid doesn’t have the “Single Sign-On” API yet, which would allow to log in your customers to your store automatically, when they’re logged in to your WP site. However we’re planning to release this feature in the future.
