In reply to: Widgets are broken in 2.8.6 – can’t move them aroundI had this exact problem, broken widget control page, no ajax in the Admin area, on a brand new install with no changes from the defaults. Recurred multiple times consecutively. IE and FF.
Turned out to have been something caused by the Microsoft Web Platform Installer, beccause the problem went away when I stopped using that and manually installed.

In reply to: Deliberately duplicate posts? Many thanks lopo. Happily I’d already found your plugin and have been using it for a couple of weeks now. Have to say it seems pretty near perfect – and it is saving me as much work as I’d hoped!
And now it’s the holidays. Aaaaaaaaaaaaand…relax.

In reply to: Deliberately duplicate posts? No, I’m a schoolteacher and I use my journal for lesson planning, one post per lesson, 5 posts per day. Since I teach the same lessons over and over to different teaching groups it would save me a lot of time if I could just use the same plans over but re-assign them to different classes.
Imagine yesterday (last year / whatever) I taught an algebra lesson and now I want to teach it again to a different group. I want to take the existing lesson plan and add it to today’s diary with the new teaching group’s name at the top plus whatever minor changes I might want to make to the lesson plan. Since these go round and round if I could do this it would save me a massive amount of work.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Importing posts via .csv – categoriesThanks, perfect answer!
(If anyone else has the same query I’ll mention to update the count value in wp_term_taxonomy so that the category list on the main page is updated to reflect the new posts. Or at least I hope that’s how it’s supposed to be.)

In reply to: 2.3.1 not showing visual editorAaaaahhh. I turn off Kasperski Security Suite and it all starts working. Wonder ‘s what’s in that that could cause it. Soon find out…
…it’s the web antivirus module that’s causing it. I turn just that bit off and everything is fine.
Sorry I missed your question. I’m assuming its the same, even with the box ticked there’s no toolbar for text formatting, all you get is the code window.
Fixed on mine now, in KAV Web Anti-virus settings I had streaming scan (whatever that means) set, switch that to buffering scan and all works fine.
I’m really sorry if this doesn’t relate to your problem, I’d got this far assuming it was the same and its too late to go back now.

In reply to: 2.3.1 not showing visual editorIt’s a computer thing. I just logged into my site from a spare laptop and they both work perfectly, still won’t work from my desktop though. I’ve done the whole clearing cache etc stuff. Maybe there’s a security setting somewhere.

In reply to: 2.3.1 not showing visual editorOr maybe not? I made another test blog and that one’s doing the same thing.

In reply to: 2.3.1 not showing visual editorI don’t think it’s the 2.3.1 version that’s at fault, I have the same problem and when I restored to the pre-upgrade backup it’s still there. There’s another post by someone else about the same thing, so it’s not just us.
