In reply to: [Add Meta Tags] Replacement for Add Meta Tags? Thanks for your answer, George. The strategy you are describing is more or less what I’ve planned to do, above all the “use it til it breaks” approach ??
One thing I loved about Add Meta Tags was the “just right” feature set. Since I’m not going to install one of those bloated all-in-one SEO plugins, I guess I’ll end up using 2–3 smaller plugins in lieu of Add Meta Tags. Pity.
I’m almost certain it’s going to unintentionally attract a lot of spam replies, so I decided to write a few general guidelines and then mark the topic as resolved. I hope this is fine.
Of course. Thanks for all your work with Add Meta Tags!

In reply to: [Last Modified Timestamp] can it be disabled for back-end changes?Evan, I think that’s the second time that I post a link to the Stealth Update plugin on your support forum.
Maybe it would be a good idea to add something like “Last Modified Timestamp just displays the timestamp, it does not create or modify it!” to your description text. In bold letters ??

In reply to: [P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler)] Lots of good infobecause this plugin doesn’t work at all.
When you skim through the reviews or support threads you’ll quickly notice that the plugin works fine, except with PHP7.
That being said, it’s a pity that there are no signs of any update or maintenance activity…

This plugin is not meant to be always on. You make the analysis and then you deactivate it (or even uninstall it) again.
We actually advertised that Postmatic uses phpmailer instead of wp_mail in all of our documentation and on our site. Sorry you missed it.
No, I didn’t miss this. But mentioning it without explicitly mentioning the possible consequences of this is just not much worth for the non-technical user ??
Thanks for the notification. I’ll try it maybe, when I find the time, but currently I’m 100% OK with the above mentioned solutions.
I didn’t see your previous response from 2 months ago until now:
With “cheapo cheat” I meant the fact that the free offering didn’t work reliably (couldn’t work reliably due to the mailing approach) and that you didn’t mention this on your page. (Of course, mentioning it, nobody would even try out the free plan…). That means, if a new user doesn’t make thorough mail tests he likely won’t notice until later that a part of the mails never got through. The 30% was an estimated number from my tests with some different mail addresses. As I said, it may be more or less.
But to honor your fix I’ll up my rating to 4 stars — without having tried the new version.
Tom
FYI, there are a couple of more recent threads on this issue (not exactly about showing the blog in the default language but showing the post in a default language):

In reply to: [Polylang] Make post available in all languagesMaybe I’m gonna try another solution:
Instead of duplicating the whole post I’ll make just “stubs” for untranslated posts: The title in the original language, and as post content just a text like “This post is not (yet) translated. Click –here– to go to the English post”. (This can be done with a shortcode.)
In conjunction with “noindex, nofollow” meta tags this should be OK.

In reply to: [Polylang] Make post available in all languagesYou can duplicate the posts and assign them to any language you want.
Oh, this is not a good idea. These posts will all have a wrong language attribute.

In reply to: [Hyper Cache] Nicht das, was ich erwartet habe….He says:
“The plugin is advertised as ‘easy to configure’, but the user himself has to make changes to the configuration file, which means the advertising is false.”
What does he mean with “configuration file”?
