  • I had a similar problem and I thought I’d put my solution here too, when trying to upgrade automatically, either a plug in or a new version (2.8) of Word Press I kept getting this error:

Class ‘PclZip’ not found in [my website path] /wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 486

I looked at that file.php and on line 486 it references a file called:
    class-pclzip.php

So I manually downloaded the new (2.8) version of WordPress, unzipped it, found the file class-pclzip.php
And uploaded that file only manually to the correct drive/folder (using FTP).

Then went back to Word Press, and hit the automatic upgrade button and it worked!

Just thought I’d share since I didn’t see this answer anywhere else, yet I saw the question or ones like it several times. but usually the problem were due to plug ins and that was not my issue. Hope this helps someone else as I was ready to pull my hair out!

I am having this very same issue and I am not using a GoDaddy or any other free account. Anyone have any other answers?

    This is what I get:
    This feed does not validate.

    *

line 1, column 0: Undefined root element: br [help]

    *

line 2, column 0: XML parsing error: <unknown>:2:0: junk after document element [help]

    <b>Fatal error</b>: Call to undefined function do_feed() in <b>/home/ecalos …

In addition, interoperability with the widest range of feed readers could be improved by implementing the following recommendation.

    *

Feeds should not be served with the “text/html” media type [help]

I sent a support ticket to my mucho fabulous web host and they fixed it. Here’s what htey said:

The upgrade script of WordPress has appended some lines to your .htaccess file and interfered with the correct syntax of the last rewrite directive that you have there.

We have simply added an extra line to separate your original .htaccess contents from the two commented lines added by the WordPress upgrade script.

    Everything is working fine now.

–aren’t they great?! I thought I’d post this in case anyone else has the same issue.

I got it!!! OK so my Google ads had this sort of tag on the top and bottom …it looked like this:
    <!——Start Google Ads—–>
that was making them all invisible. I removed that and bingo they’re there. So check that. Make sure there’s nothing funky like that there.

I’m having similar issues. I tried to add my Google ads to my header (under my Blog name) and they don’t show up. So then I thought I would try and see what happened when I just created a post and put the code in. Zip! Nothing shows. It’s not Word Press hiding them is it?

[I have my Google ads on thousands of other pages on other sites and have had no problem. So I, at least kinda, know what I’m doing.]
