    Hi Dave,

All working great now following the server upgrade to PHP 7

Thanks for all your assistance and great plugin.

I have a different question about the plugin but will open a new ticket for that.

    Bye-for-now,

Thanks, I am looking in to it just now with my hosts.

Do you know of any sites that are using your plugin that I could have a look at (front-end of course)?

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for being so busy on this.

Unfortunately I am now getting the following error on attempting to activate the plugin (following the update) and it is still not activating:

Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /usr/local/pem/vhosts/180875/webspace/siteapps/WordPress-98510/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/gift-aid-for-woocommerce/php/class-notices.php on line 79

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for getting back so quickly and sorry for not replying sooner (was never notified of follow-ups – must not have clicked the box!)

    So to answer above:

I was getting no plugin settings in the admin area so no settings to fill out (but it was showing as activated as identified in the WC report I linked to above).

So today I tried to activate the plugin after deactivating it and I got the following:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_USE, expecting T_FUNCTION in /usr/local/pem/vhosts/180875/webspace/siteapps/WordPress-98510/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/gift-aid-for-woocommerce/php/class-helpers.php on line 25

I deleted and re-installed the plugin and got the same error while trying to activate it.

I tried switching theme and then activating the plugin and got the same error and no activation.

While still on Twentysixteen I tried to disable all the plugins except WooCommerce and I still got the error.

Everything is now back to starting point for me and I am still getting the Parse error.

    Any advice?

    Hi again,

I am using the most up-to-date version of Give (and enjoy it very much indeed). It might be a js interference problem with other plugins if that kind of thing exists but I guess that would jump out on ‘inspection’? Or possibly a VC problem as the theme I use employs Visual Composer.

Let me know if you would like me to investigate further at my end,

    Hi,

There is no caching on the site (wordfence is running however). When I turn off Floating labels the appearance of the Titles is immediate. And when I set it to global again (or enabled) the Floating Labels appear immediately. The latency appears to be coming solely by adding floating_labels=”true” to the shortcode.

A screenshot of my shortcode builder. No scrolling was/is available.

However it seems to be ‘stable’ now with the form set to global option (which is enabled in the settings).

Maybe it was a bug that was rectified by the disabling and re-enabling possibly carried forward from an upgrade? Wasn’t there a similar thing with Terms & Conditions at on stage?

Anyway, thanks again for your responses and maybe I have found something that needs attention or it was just within my setup.

I can test some more configs if you want and report back, but not tonight!!

Sorry, can’t seem to figure this out at all. I removed the floating_labels=”true” and the floating labels remained. I had the original form set to Floating labels enabled and not to Global Option so that might have solved it but when I changed it back to Global Option the modal form still showed the Floating Labels!

I am stumped but at least it appears to be working.

Anyway, the link (containing the shortcode) to click on the Donate button to get the modal form is https://wellsforzoe.org/donate/

and the original form is at https://wellsforzoe.org/donations/donate/

    Thanks,

Sorry, added the above before seeing your (incredibly quick) response.

However, my Global settings are set to Floating Labels enabled but still didn’t see that in the modal form.

Just tried a guess at adding floating_labels=”true” to the shortcode and it worked!

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
I tried a “Live Preview” of the site/page using the 2016 WP theme and discovered that the problem looked to be the theme I am using.
Could you offer any advice on fixing this (suggested CSS changes etc.) as I would like to continue using your plugin if possible.

Sorry, sorry, sorry – I feel like quite a fool!!

Just used taxonomy-give_forms_category.php as the name of the file and all worked fine – I didn’t realise you were being literal and feel quite silly! As you can see from the above I thought I had to replace the term taxonomy!

I would still like to restrict the https://www.mysite.com/donations page to use one category if there was a simple way to do that?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the quick response.

I had already done 1-3 and indeed all is working fine for display of the relevant categories using the URL-type you give in 3 above.

However I am still having a problem with 4!

I did just want code to restrict the output to one category type on the https://www.wellsforzoe.org/w4z/donations page (because of the simplicity of the URL i.e /donations) but did see that there was another route in doing what you have pointed out. Could you offer that code perhaps?

Alternatively I have of course tried the following:

My category slug is “campaign” and I have tried a lot of template variations to no avail (by adding them to the root of my theme as I did with archive-give_forms.php) including:

    category-give_forms_category.php

    archive-give_forms_category.php

    category-campaign-give_forms_category.php

    archive-campaign-give_forms_category.php

and what I thought the article you pointed me at seem to say(!):

    archive-give_forms-give_forms_category-campaign.php

If it’s any help the link to the page /donations/category/campaign is showing as follows:

    https://wellsforzoe.org/w4z/wp-admin/term.php?taxonomy=give_forms_category&tag_ID=637&post_type=give_forms

How does that break down to form a php template?

Sorry, could you send more guidance please on both routes!

    Thanks,

I thought you might be able to add the date of the post to the content imported so that the generated post’s content includes the date at the top – nothing to do with the theme really. No problem if this is not possible – I will have the blipper put that date at the top of each blip instead.

The date issue is indeed fixed but includes a generic time of 00:00 instead of original which is fine.

The image title does now match the entry title, thanks.

I dumped the drafts and started again only keeping those I had hand amended and published.

There are still a few issues but I will start a new thread for them.

    Thanks,
    éamonn
