In reply to: HTML Editor Jump-to-Start Problem FixI can confirm that this problem still persists. IE8 can easily be switched to compatibility mode to stop it from jumping around, just click the button next to the address bar and the jumping stopped for me.
Hopefully WordPress can fix this issue in future revs, or when IE9 comes out things will be better.

In reply to: WP-stats plugin is broken since todayYeah guys, sorry about that, my site’s been getting a ton of traffic over the last few days, it must’ve crashed the database for everyone. I KEED, I KEED!

In reply to: Clear post version’s hisotryActually it worked perfect, I just used
define(‘WP_POST_REVISIONS’, 3);
Thanks for the helpful info henkholland.
This should still be something that could be modified through the admin screens within the site though.

In reply to: Clear post version’s hisotryThis is a good topic, this type of thing should be part of the wordpress admin settings. We should be able to specify the number of revs which are kept in history. For example keep history in the database but only the last 3 versions of the post being updated. I have one main page on my site which has hundreds of revisions since I update it every time I add new content to other places on the site.

In reply to: [Plugin: StatPress Reloaded] Performance IssueI also have noticed a slowdown on the site and I highly suspect the statpress plugin. My first search lead me here… I guess it’s time to kill it despite its nice features.

In reply to: [Plugin: WordPress.com Stats] 1.54: Counting differently or missing hits?Yup, that’s about right.
Also when I compare wordpress.com stats output to analytics, statpress and awstats (which mostly agree) I get significantly less hits. The only conclusion is that this plugin does not accurately score hits and that stuff simply somehow gets dropped.
That being said I like the visual aspect of the plugin the best. Analytics might actually look better but it misses info such as post titles and etc.

In reply to: Front page stats using WordPress.com StatsYup, I have the same question too, seems like none of these issues are resolved and this plugin has actually been around for a long time.

In reply to: [Plugin: WordPress.com Stats] 1.54: Counting differently or missing hits?Hello Emily,
It is indeed a great question, I’ve noticed some of the same too. Unfortunately the only thing I can offer up is speculation. My guess is that the stats server is so busy that a lot of traffic simply gets lost.I’d also love to know why category and tag and archive hits are not counted properly. Actually the “hits” appear but they are not linked to anything. That is of course a different question and I doubt the unhelpful folks from wordpress.com would answer any of these.

In reply to: WordPress Stats QuestionHello folks, maybe you can direct me to a place where this question can be answered? Do you think this is perhaps an artifact of the theme I am using?

In reply to: WordPress 2.7.1 hackedFrom the hacking perpective they definitely seem to be exploiting some feature of wordpress to do it. The only part of my site which was affected was within the wordpress installation. I’m guessing it was some sort of a batch job because they didn’t do any damage to the site contents even though they clearly broke into the account database and hacked/modified the password to the admin account. If this was a deliberate hacking attempt designed to take down the site they could’ve done a lot more, I’m guessing it took about a day before I noticed the site had been hacked.
Thanks to everyone who helped out here. Bernard, I’d already checked out the hardening wordpress post, all that stuff outlined there was in place on my site before it got hacked. I’ll read the rest.
Changing my theme is a problem even though I’ve been thinking of doing a total redesign lately. That theme is my own theme which I created for my site. Subsequently I published it and it has been used by many others but I’m curious now that if perhaps by publishing the theme I use has made me somehow suseptable to this type of hackjob.
Anyways, I’ve backed up everything now and I’ll make a point to do monthly backups of my site. I’ve contacted Hostmonster and told them about the hacking but since I’d already cleaned up there was nothing they could see…

In reply to: WordPress 2.7.1 hackedOk Supernovia, I’ve now checked over everything on the server and the link you suggested above. It appears my files always had permissions that give them right to only be modified by the owner. I’m a bit at a loss now because that means (to me right now) that they did gain access to the server somehow as my account.
I don’t understand anything about hacking. Is it possible for those files to be modified w/o them gaining access to my username/password somehow?

In reply to: WordPress 2.7.1 hackedI highly doubt this. If they did so I’m sure they would’ve wreaked more damage. Secondly why hack my site? THey’d be going after my bank accounts.
More details about the hack job. They did hack the admin account in wordpress. I don’t use the admin account and now after this incident I’ve deleted the admin account.
So the hacking was more severe then just overwriting some of the theme files. FYI.
My friend’s site also had all of its users modified, we had multiple admin accounts on there.

In reply to: WordPress 2.7.1 hackedGood note about the chmod, I’ll look into this. I’ll take a look at your link too, I’m now backing stuff up.

In reply to: WordPress 2.7.1 hackedmy friend’s site was not hacked the same way, his appears to have been hacked by chinese because there are chinese characters appearing on his site. For privacy reasons I can’t post a link here.
My site was hacked only within my theme, everything else seems to be operating as normal. It must’ve happened sometime yesterday but I only noticed today because of the drop in hits. Even though my front pages are indeed pages most of my content is within posts.
