That FeedRead is probably worth a shot.

I use Carp on my blog, which is probably overkill.

I pull feeds from sites I find interesting to create a sort of “home page” for myself:

you have to copy the trackback link off my site (here you go):

Now make an entry on your site, and paste this into the “TrackBack an URI (Separate multiple URIs with spaces.)” field.

Then a little comment should pop up on my blog.

btw, I couldnt trackback your post … so you may need to enable it in your Options -> Discussions section. You need to have “Allow link notifications from other Weblogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)” checked.

I have been having that login problem too, so I guess I need to upgrade.

Now I’m gonna have to “diff” all the files to find all the little “hacks” I’ve introduced … ohh well.

I just installed all this stuff a couple of weeks ago and I’ve sort of gone wordpress bonkers … hopefully I’ll get it right this time !

I’m using 1.2.1 NM.

I DO have the “Allow link notifications from other Weblogs” option checked.

Having said that, I have “hacked” a bit on the wordpress code.

Should I see a “trackback.php” entry in my apache log ?
Can you give me something I can search for in the apache log to see what’s going on ?

Lot’s of people appear to want something along these lines.

I’ve a couple of ideas how this might be possible.

You could use an RSS aggregator like Carp to fetch the last 10 or so entries from each blog …

Anyhow, i’m busy now, but i got another idea too.

O.K. , i managed to successfully ping back another blog … but it’s hard testing the other direction.

Is “Allow Pings” in the Post entry form where you enable trackbacks ?

we need a trackback testing place …
would somebody be kind enough to trackback one of my posts ? just so I can see if it works ?

Hey, I’m going to track you back with an entry right now … I think your supposed to see a little diddy (like a comment) on your original entry, pointing back to my entry.

How the heck did you get relative links to begin with ?

I hacked and fiddled forever trying to get relative links. Don’t tell me this is an option somewhere in the admin pages ? Or perhaps a new 1.3 feature ?

It looks real nice, and is easily “hacked” to fit in with your sites look.

It can be used in “simple” mode too ….
I deleted the entire admin directory and I just edit a text file and upload files …. works just fine.

I just added the following line to the get_settings function (in file functions.php) , up at the top:

if (‘home’ == $setting) return “”;

this is an easy “hack” and easy to undo.

Anyhow … on the design side …

your site is all “mathmatically and geometrically” sound. everything is contained in it’s precise, little space. And you hand out space to all the elements with uncanny judicial good sense. This thing is like New York City, baby ! All those little div’s living side by side …

it all makes me feel very comfortable, because I have absolute faith nothing is going to get out of it’s space and invade it’s neighbors space.

Hell … I like it … I don’t know how you do it, but I like it … all my shit ends up sloppy and “organic”, like a garden with a few wild weeds. Your site is professional and has a “sheen” … or maybe that’s a “shine” ?
