In reply to: [WP eCommerce] After Updating to 3.8.14 Category pages don't workHello,
I have the same problem (I think). Was this issue fixed?
A customer started reporting strange problems with version 3.7.8 (eg when you try to click such as to enter the title, we get a strange perpetual “loading” box and the screen greys out) so I upgraded to 3.7.8.1 and then to 3.8.14. Everything seemed fine and the client loved how much easier it was to use the system… until…
Using 1 category as an example, which has 10 product in it, none show up on the category page. When I added a new “test” product, then all of the products would reappear. Delete the test product, and all the other products would disappear.
Now, pretty much the opposite happens – add 1 product and it might appear – just 1 product on the category page. Add 2 products and they might all disappear again. Assign the product to another category and suddenly all those category products disappear too.
I’ve tried different versions of wp e-commerce, turning off plugins inc gold cart, adjusting presentation settings, moving theme files, flushing theme cache, etc.
I’m totally stuck and I’ve spent quite a lot of time on this. Should I start a new support thread so that I do not hijack this one any further?

In reply to: problems since the 3.9 updateAh too bad they can’t help you – not sure why they can’t/won’t. I’ve only experienced this problem once so my advice is limited and potentially flawed. I’d have assumed that doing a manual upload of the WordPress files via an FTP program would resolve the problem (something the host can do too). And if the file permissions were incorrect (not letting you overwrite files) then the host could also fix this (but you could probably change them with an FTP program too). There is a chance you will have to delete some of your original WordPress files before uploading the new files you downloaded to your PC. Just don’t delete the wp-contents folder as that is where all your image uploads and media library stuff is.
It sounds like to fix this you might have to learn more about using FTP.
Posting a second forum message might not necessarily help either ??

In reply to: problems since the 3.9 updateYour first port of call should be in writing to or calling your existing host, mention you have a failed WordPress upgrade and ask if they can fix it for you. If it was as quick a fix as my failed upgrade today then they should be able to sort it out in a short amount of time.
This would avoid the time finding a new host (and you seem to lack the skill to transfer your existing content to a new host) as well as the time your website and email would be offline during the change over.

In reply to: problems since the 3.9 updateAfter you unzip the file, look in the folder and you will see a bunch of .php files, a .txt file, a .html file, and 3 folders. Among the .php files you will find wp-settings.php (ie in the “root” of the folder). You then upload this file to the “root” directory aka main directory of your website. I use FileZilla as my FTP program of choice. It is free. In case you are not familiar with this process, you will need your hosting details (hostname, username, password) to manually upload WordPress files.

In reply to: problems since the 3.9 updateThanks nat@cry, that gave me a tip in the right direction when trying to upgrade a client’s website manually. The upgrade was not letting me write to a lot of the files in the root directory (550 permission denied) but I was able to delete them and then re-upload them successfully. Not sure if this was a result of the hosting environment, but sometimes a little grain of info can provide the gleam of hope ??

In reply to: wp-ecommerce Internal Server Error when add new productI had this problem suddenly occuring simultaneously for all WordPress sites running on one of my servers. It was quite perplexing given that I was running different versions of WordPress and WP e-Commerce, and some had been running for years without a hitch.
The solution, thanks to Joshuaiz is the ping services in the Writing section of the WordPress settings. When you create a new product, it sends that info to the feeds each time. The time out (Internal Server Error) occurs when WordPress does not get all the pingbacks. In my case, https://www.lasermemory.com/lsrpc/ was no longe working. Removing this one from my ping services fixed the problem.
