Had the same issue, but even when replacing the main-google.php file, the gallery was still gone and would not render, even though the settings were still there. This was so annoying as there was a lot extra work to stylize this gallery externally. What I don’t get is why weren’t there any notifications as most contributors would notify the WordPress public.
