Hey there again, emails are getting through…my client is ready to jump…here’s his latest plea after me telling him I have someone checking into it…

I hope so Dave because there’s been no let-up on the number e-mails hitting my phone………

I have also been notified by the hosting company that they have no control…it is definitely being generated by the site…here’s their email:

hi guys –

as i believe i’ve said before, this isn’t simply a case of a spammer forging a from address – we see that all the time, and are very familiar with that technique. the problem is, these emails are verifiably coming from the website itself.

the messages are coming to mike because, as near as i can make out, he’s set up somewhere to receive notifications of comments or posts or something like that. the way to stop them will be to find that configuration and turn it off, or remove his address.

to be clear: while there’s no reason to believe there’s been any compromise of the site, the fact that this is happening suggests that it’s possible for the site to be used to send spam without you guys’ knowledge. obviously, that’s currently bad news for mike, and it wants to get fixed – but should we start to see spam being sent to other domains, we’ll have a real problem. so i’d like you guys to get this straightened out as soon as possible, is what i’m saying.

while we’re happy to help however we can, the ultimate responsibility for the site, its content, and anything it sends out, lies with you guys.

Since I am an amateur, I have asked a web guru friend to look into to it at my expense because I just don’t know what to do! Any further assistance would be appreciated…maybe I need to bring the site down.

how do I attach a screen grab to this note…client can’t forward, when he does, he gets a message titled. message text rejected by mx.east.cox.net
so he sent me a screen grab of the message…lengthy and much of it in chinese
will type a few lines
