Thanks, that worked for me. After a lot of head scratching, I found this post and it fixed it straight away, good work for sharing the fix.

“You can recover a WordPress admin password if you have forgotten it, lost or it stops working.

Using phpMyAdmin in cPanel go to wp_users and click “browse.”

On the user_pass field, click “browse” and find the ID number associated with your login and click Edit.

Select the password content and delete it. Type in your new password.

In the dropdown menu, choose MD5.

Click Go or Save at the bottom of the screen.

Return to the tab for your WordPress blog and test the new password.

If this doesn’t work, try again!”

If I manually upload the plugin it works fine, its just the auto update that fails, any ideas anyone? I’ve got used to using the auto update on my other blogs, it now feels a pain to go back to the manual way.
