  • Hey noltha

Last week, we pushed an update to Flare that makes these buttons work a bit better. Keep an eye out, we’re working on on awesome mobile update to Flare! ??

    Hi wjwc

The plugin adds these tags, so Filament can easily identify which pages on your site correspond to Posts, Pages, Custom Post Types, etc.

The presence of these tags makes it easier for you to add apps to specific types of pages – for instance if you only wanted to put Passport on posts of a certain category, it only takes a couple of clicks when you have the Filament plugin installed – without it, you’d have to create a more complex Filter in Filament to achieve this.

I hope that helps to clarify!

    Hi everyone

My name is Jason, and I’m on the Filament team, and just stumbled across this thread after encountering the same issue on one of our test sites. First of all, I’m sorry for the hassle this caused, I know it’s super-frustrating to comb through your plugins to find the offender.

We addressed this issue quite a while ago, so it shouldn’t be a problem any more. I recommend you deactivate the plugin before you update it. Please feel free to give it another try, and let me know your thoughts!

    Best,

    Jason

    Hi Damon

Jason from the SlideDeck team here. Sorry for the delayed response, I just got back from vacation in Nigeria to escape the polar vortex and saw your note ??

Please shoot me a note with your email address and order number to [email protected], and I’ll see to it that you get your license key. We don’t normally have issues with this, so it must have been waylaid by the email gods in their infinite wisdom.

    Best,

    Jason

    Hi agatzebluz

Thanks for the questions! Some answers for you:

    1. No. The sharing counts are pulled directly from the service (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), and are tied to the URL upon which Flare is installed. So long as you’re not modifying the URL at which the content is located, the counts should stay accurate when moving from the plugin to the hosted version.
    2. I’m not sure what might be causing the issue you mention, although the fact it’s only happening on some of your posts makes me suspect there might be another interactive element on the page interfering with Flare loading the sharing buttons.

As for the benefits of hosted vs. plugin, shoot us a note via the chatbox in Filament, and we can answer any questions you have.

    Thanks!

    Jason

    Hello!

There’s no Drupal version, but we are beta testing a hosted version of Flare that can be installed on virtually any website platform. Check it out:

Hi Bellu – we address this issue on our blog here: https://www.slidedeck.com/blog/important-before-you-upgrade-to-wordpress-3-7/

Basically in a nutshell you need to upgrade/update to 2.3.6 of the SD plugin. Since you likely cannot update via the admin, you should just need to deactivate and remove then reinstall the latest version.

You should prob turn error reporting off unless you are debugging.

    Thanks.

@scott Flare retrieves the sharing counts from each of the platforms (FB, Twitter, etc.), so we’re currently at the mercy of the data they make available to us. Pinterest in particular doesn’t have an official way for us to integrate with their system (hence why robust apps being built for Pinterest are few and far between right now). We’re definitely keeping an eye on this for news that’ll help us make this better.

@yourevilmind Correct! The Flare app on Filament is a TON lighter on your server than the WP plugin

@abryant14 Yep, we added this in Flare Lite – screenshot. Currently the plugin just lets you align them left/right.

Hi there – I’m on the Filament team.

We’ve just pushed out an update to the plugin that should address any domain connection issues. Please could you update, then re-paste in your Filament code snippet to confirm whether it works for you?

As for contacting us, please use the little chat box in the bottom right of the app, we’ll get back to you faster that way – screenshot

    Thanks!

    Hi wjwc

Thanks a lot for the feedback! Yes, this is partly because we’re in beta, but it’s also partly because we need to load assets from each of the platforms that Flare is including in its output (FB, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.). We’ll definitely be looking into ways to optimize this as part of taking the beta to a finished product!

    Best,

    Jason (on the Filament team)

@shannon Glad you liked the plugin! The Flare app is actually a lot easier on your site, since it now loads asynchronously – meaning the page doesn’t have to wait for Flare to load completely before rendering, like the plugin does.

@crezilla Yup, you can manually specify an element for Flare to attach itself to. Check out this option in the Flare Lite app: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s49/sh/f2e6ae5e-0d1b-4824-a481-2a62b2b86183/a62207b8098796d246c9a2dc00e5f5e3

@comfortablefood Please submit a bug report from inside the app, and we’ll look into it. Thanks!

@patricksplace As I mentioned, we’re moving away from the plugin in order to focus our efforts on the app, so you might be able to ask the community for help in a separate thread.

    Hi berartvisualdesign!

It looks like Flare is actually working correctly – here’s what I’m seeing on the site you linked to [screenshot]

Note that the app is still in Beta, so there will be some bugs that we’re in the middle of addressing. You can help us out with this by reporting any problems you find – just click on the “Report Bugs” tab at the top of the screen.

With regards to Pro, we’re still refining Flare Lite to make sure it’s a good product, but once we feel confident it’s there, we’ll be looking to roll out the Pro features. I can’t give a specific timeline, but we’ll definitely be looking to begin within the next couple of months. In the meantime, you can preorder for Pro, and get a nice discount on it!

@wjwc Sure, just use the little chat window in the bottom right of the app to shoot me a note, and I’ll be happy to help you get up & running. =)
