In reply to: Alt tags not saving?Hello,
That’s weird, they’re still still not showing up on any of the alt text/SEO scans I’m doing, including Ahrefs which is usually reliable! This one’s pretty clear too: https://tools.seochat.com/tools/broken-links-images-tool/

In reply to: Alt tags not saving? This may sound dumb, but why would an alt tag not matter if the image is purely decorative? From SEO purposes I thought it always mattered?
I do however see your point… My issue is certain images are reproduced on my homepage to promote articles, and the alt tags are not being reproduced alongside the image.
Others must have encountered this problem before? Is there anyway to address this without manually entering the alt tag twice, once when you insert into a post and once in the Media Library?
I am fairly sure it wasn’t always the case as my homepage had alt tags before, and I’ve not changed anything myself.

In reply to: Login issues – booted me out and now I can't get back in!Unfortunately hassling staff at Metro is not really an option – I work freelance so I don’t really have any personal contact with anyone outside of my editor, and if she says she can’t help, that’s that.

In reply to: Missed schedule on random postsPS anyone experiencing the problem can download the WP Missed Schedule plugin which will republish missed schedule posts within 10 minutes, but I’d still like to find a solution – often my posts are timed to meet campaigns elsewhere, and clients get iffy if the post isn’t there for them to see at a particular time.

In reply to: Missed schedule on random postsThis seemed to fix itself but with the recent update to 4.3 it’s come back. Any ideas?

In reply to: New posts not showing on home page but do show under 'Category'Then there’s something wrong with your customised theme. It may be worth trying a theme besides your customised Beautiful Pro and Twenty Fifteen to narrow things down. I assume the customised theme was working okay before?

In reply to: Site takes 15 seconds to load, only 60kb, help!Ruth you should try the following plugins to help work out what’s going on and fix the problem:
– EWWW Image Optimizer, this automatically compresses images for you, plus a few other handy things
– P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler), this will tell you what’s eating up your site’s memory etc and causing it to load really slowly
– W3 Total Cache, you can clear the website’s cache really easily with thisTiff

In reply to: New posts not showing on home page but do show under 'Category'Matthew, if you save your style.css into a WordPad document or something similar (by going to Appearance > Editor > Stylesheet in the bottom right hand corner, then C&Ping everything you see), then even if you do accidentally re-write your theme, you’ll only need to copy that WordPad content back into the Editor to revive your site. I keep a copy of the file just in case because I’m not a web developer and sometimes support use Twenty Fifteen to fix things without warning us.

In reply to: You must be logged in to post a comment !!??How recently did you change the setting? Do you have a cache plugin? If so try clearing the website cache from there/deactivating it for 24 hours so the changes can catch up. If you’ve got a firewall installed, it’s also worth taking that down temporarily in case it’s blocking changes. I’ve had problems with both in the past.

In reply to: Version 4.2.3 Problems with my siteHi Alex,
When I visit your site it says, “This site uses a plugin () which is unsupportive” at the top – does that explain anything? Perhaps the plugins you were using to get the above mentioned features aren’t supported on 4.2.3…

In reply to: no toolbarMaybe obvious, but have you checked to make sure you’ve selected the setting to show your toolbar under options? Once when I updated that was deselected for some reason…
Otherwise, a screen cap would come in handy.

In reply to: Automatic update to version 4.1 failedI’ve had exactly this same issue. And as a big warning, I’ve seen a few people get stuck in limbo land where the site DOESN’T roll back to a previous version. So if you’re experiencing problems I’d suggest holding fire on the ‘update’ button for now.
I’ve been told to upgrade manually – easier said than done when you’re on a one-click install and have no developer knowledge yourself! If this turns out to be a common issue and there’s some easier solution than hiring someone specifically to manually update WordPress, I’m all ears.
